Dell Lab Support Sr Engineer (Hybrid Cloud Engineering) in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Description:

The Dell EMC Hybrid Cloud Platforms team is responsible for developing next generation cloud solutions leveraging core and partner products and platforms. We deliver end to end solutions for IT infrastructures with a focus on Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, Native Cloud Developer and Data Scientist Solutions for our customers. We architect, develop, test and document the complete solution stack, including converged and hyper-converged infrastructures, Dell Technologies partners such as VMware, RSA and Pivotal as well as third party applications.

We are looking for a strong Sr. Lab Support Engineer with extensive experience in lab management and complex system deployment, to support a team of expert engineers focused on Virtustream Hybrid Cloud Solutions.

Virtustream Hybrid Cloud focuses on the personas in the Platform 3 world of native cloud application development. The solution comprises automated delivery and management of development environments including platform deployment and day 2 management and reporting.

The successful candidate will manage the lab for a global team, support test system deployment, and interface with the lab support organization to remediate issues they arise.

General Description:

  • Deploy, document, and maintain layer 2 and layer 3 networking using routers, vlans; IPv4; Cisco, Brocade, and Arista switching; and VMware NSX

  • Deploy, document, and maintain UCS converged infrastructure

  • Deploy, document and maintain Windows Active Directory

  • Deploy, document, and maintain Dell technologies products such as VxRack, VxRail, Isilon, Unity, Data Domain, and ECS

  • Direct others to successfully rack, stack, cable, and power new and relocated hardware in a common lab space

  • Support user needs, requests, and problems throughout the lab.

Required Skills

  • The ability to learn new things quickly will be critical to this role. The rest of this skill list assumes at least basic understanding of the concepts involved. Growing that knowledge and expanding it will be a big part of the effort required.

  • Ethernet switching and routing

  • Cisco, Brocade, and Arista switch management

  • UCS Manager and UCS converged infrastructure concepts

  • Fibre Channel storage

  • Dell Technologies products

  • Data center infrastructure (power, racking, and networking)

  • Virtualization software installation and management (for example: VMware, Hyper-V, KVM)

  • While there is a lab support team for most physical tasks, the position does require the ability to occasionally move enterprise class server and storage hardware within the lab.

Strongly Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with Hybrid cloud concepts

  • Familiarity with Agile Development concepts

  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or PowerShell
