Dell Software Quality Sr Engineer -Hybrid Cloud Engineering in Atlanta, Georgia
The Dell EMC Hybrid Cloud Platforms team is responsible for developing next generation cloud solutions leveraging core and partner products and platforms. We deliver end to end solutions for IT infrastructures with a focus on Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, Native Cloud Developer and Data Scientist Solutions for our customers. We architect, develop, test and document the complete solution stack, including converged and hyper-converged infrastructures, Dell Technologies partners such as VMware, RSA and Pivotal as well as third party applications.
We are looking for a Senior Software Quality Engineer with experience in automating cloud orchestration workflows, interfacing between different software packages, and working with a globally diverse teams in an agile development environment.
Virtustream Hybrid Cloud focuses on the personas in the Platform 3 world of native cloud application development. The solution comprises automated delivery and management of development environments including platform deployment and day 2 management and reporting.
The successful candidate will be a senior member of the software team for the Virtustream Hybrid Cloud solution from Dell EMC and work closely with the Solution Architect, Delivery Manager, and global engineering team to ensure that it meets the solution requirements.
Conducts a wide range of quality control tests and analyses to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements. Typically responsible for tests, methods, and procedures to ensure continuous improvement to software quality assurance and serviceability standards. Analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective action. Ensures that system tests are successfully completed and documented and all problems are resolved. Debugs software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for company products. Performs development and execution of software quality methods and processes. Implements and defines testing methodology and standards to improve results. Responsible for testing systems and applications software. After testing provides feedback to developers on potential changes. Works independently with other engineering functions from design through production to design, develop, and implement procedures for testing systems and equipment. Selects testing specifications for new products and ensures testing procedures are in compliance with industry specific standards.
Works closely with Product Development, Product Management and the Customer Support teams to insure product quality and customer satisfaction.
Develops, revises and maintains test plans, test cases and automated test scripts that include resource requirements, schedule assumptions and scope based on pre-determined product requirements.
Interfaces with other internal QA organizations to develop comprehensive test plans and test coverage across Dell’s broad product portfolio.
Develops and conducts performance and scalability testing.
Executes test plans, logs defects to an agreed upon severity rating and makes recommendations to address defects to product team.
Retests software corrections to ensure defects are resolved.
Drives continual process improvements in the evolution of testing procedures for future replication.
Works with customers and applies customer feedback to drive product improvement through the development process.
Provides solutions for wide range of complex problems.
Independently determines and develops approach to solutions, under only limited direction.
Authors and executes test cases and testing methodology for manual and/or automated tests.
Understands and adheres to cost/delivery/quality targets established during regression and testing phase.
Software development expertise from a coding perspective. This is required for building test automation. Contribute to test automation activities through knowledge of coding/programming in current languages.
Knowledge and wide application of engineering principles, theories, and concepts, and working knowledge of other related fields
Develops new test methodologies or processes, re-evaluates existing processes. Contributes to the development and achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
Represents the organization on project teams and may perform technical project leadership roles. Sphere of influence is likely to extend outside of work group or department.

Responsible for providing requirements and specifications for the automation of test cases. Accountable for delivery of subsystem, anticipate issues and addresses proactively.
Fully competent in the design, implementation, and maintenance of a test environment, including necessary equipment, configuration, and software.
Demonstrated skill with developing appropriate test methodologies. Fully competent in the use of necessary tools and applications
Education and Experience
Typically requires 5+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3+ years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent experience
Proficient communication/ presentation skills, influencing across distributed teams, presenting compelling data
Problem solving skills and advanced understanding of big picture impact in development of solutions
Ability to influence others to get optimal results
Advanced understanding of quality tools, data, and processes

General knowledge of at least one mainstream language, (preferred proficiency in C, C++, or JAVA)
Familiarity with scripting language such as Perl, Python, or similar.
Understanding of cloud architecture concepts and experience with virtualization technologies
Knowledge of Dell EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud, Native Hybrid Cloud, or equivalent systems.
