Demand Planning Consultant, Commercial Item Level- Round Rock, TX

Smart Selection Planning Team Summary: The Smart Selection planning team is responsible for driving forecasts, used by Dell’s supply chain group, for all stocked configurations within North America’s client systems assortment. In addition to forecasting responsibilities, the team is relied upon to maintain North America’s supply chain operations metrics such as Forecast Accuracy, DSI, Ocean Mix and Smart Selection config count.

General Role Summary: This role is responsible for driving an item level forecast, for Consumer Desktop products in which Dell holds finished goods inventory, by leveraging analytics and working closely with internal Merchandising, regional supply planning and Sales teams.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the segment level finished goods, demand planning to enable robust short, medium and long term forecasts, enabling the business to achieve the highest potential forecast accuracy across the associated product lines

  • Participation in weekly outlook review meetings including active engagement with cross-functional team members on assessing the current state of the business and develop / implement bridge plans to ensure the business achieves its P&L objectives

  • Assist Cycle Plan team in creation and validation of future smart selection offers along with projected demand on suggested offers

  • Provide clear reporting on actual business trends and analytics which include demand / attainment and forecast accuracy on finished goods configurations; providing recommendations to the Marketing and Sales teams in a timely and effective manner to minimize / eliminate E&O exposure to the business

  • Work with Sales/Marketing team (Product, Brand, and Merchandising) on the timing / availability of new products for inclusion in the demand forecast

  • Analyze demand management processes, assess and challenge current demand inputs, identify gaps (such as accuracy), innovate, and drive improvement on demand-sensing capabilities

  • Actively engage and collaborate with team members to align forecasts on non-finished goods supply chains

  • Analyze and maintain reporting procedures to measure forecasting accuracy against actual sales reporting back and driving improvement plans with internal stakeholders

  • Determine the key planning milestones and transition plans for each product (both new and refresh cycles) – based on alignment with product team

  • Provide demand shaping recommendations, and communication of this information to key internal business partner

    Experience Requirements

  • 8 years of working experience in Finished Goods Planning under complex business environments

  • Supply Chain or Business planning, experience in Electronics or Semi-conductor or Retail industry

  • In depth knowledge of sales based statistical models and data analysis

  • Experience directly managing cross functional or vendor relationships

  • Strong understanding of S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) elements and process

  • Proven track record in delivering change, process improvement, and root cause analytics

  • APICS certification will be an added advantage

  • Experience with web based forecasting tools/applications (i.e, Oracle, SAS, SFDC Manugistics)
