Who provides the know-how to protect data, tools, and information systems at Dell Technologies? It’s the Database Admin team within our Information Technology organization. We develop, design, and optimize our information technology and systems functions that support our business processes and technical information systems platforms. What you’ll achieve
As a SQL Server DBA, you will be responsible for providing operational support for production databases and support Database development/projects. Operations support will focus on availability, capacity, performance, security, and recoverability. You will design, build, maintain, migrate and upgrade highly available databases with Dell IT defined standards and support them throughout their lifecycle. You will be a part of a high performing team of dedicated professionals and will have plenty of opportunities to learn and thrive and contribute to Dell’s success. You will interact and collaborate with Application Development and various infrastructure teams including Server/Storage/Network/Security and DB Engineering.
Provide production database support with specific focus on availability, capacity, performance, security, and recoverability. Perform capacity planning, health checks, backups & recovery, and change management according to documented standards. Troubleshoot issues with database instances, DR, replication, and backups and eliminates root causes through systematic problem management practices
Provide database development/project support in compliance with database design standards. Design and develop database systems to meet application and business requirements across multiple platforms and computing environments.
Evaluate new database technologies and tools, set database system and programming standards, apply database technology to business problems and manage the development and production database environments with emphasis on security, availability, and performance. Provide database services in compliance with all audit and regulatory requirements.
Work with Dev or DevOps teams throughout the software development lifecycle and provide data and standards and guidance on best practices.
Ensure database security controls meet internal and external audit and compliance requirements including data classification and data privacy according to regulatory guidelines

8+ years of Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree or 6+ years with a Master’s degree
Managed large, complex projects (using Microsoft windows Clustering, Replication and always-on technologies) that are longer-term in nature or projects that have been identified as critical priority for the business; lead initiatives and special projects.
Diagnose, resolve, and implement preventive measures to prevent problems for applications and system software.
Practical experience in optimizing query performance and database tuning
Analyze and work on non-standard problems or issues that span multiple technologies, ex: browser to spindle and propose long-term solutions and fixes.
Perform in all database management areas and apply advanced knowledge of at least one area.
Create and implement High Availability solutions and disaster recovery procedures
Experience or knowledge in other database technologies like MongoDB, Elastic Search, Postgres, Oracle in a plus.
Knowledge of automation tools, Shell scripting and knowledge of Linux, Windows Server, Storage, Network and Security.
