Dell DevOps Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia

This position requires interaction and coordination among several different groups within the organization including Operations, Development, QA and Support. Primarily develops and maintains processes to support development and deployment of software products


  • Support developers during the software development process with tools and automation.

  • Develop tools and automation for the build, packaging and implementation of our software product.

  • Provide support for the tools and automation that the team develops.

  • Ability to work independently at a high productivity level.

  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form; especially technical concepts.

  • Ability to work well as a member of a large team spanning multiple cultures and time zones.

  • Take initiative to accomplish tasks involving communication/coordination with Support, Development and QA teams.

  • Plan, coordinate and execute tasks related to the packaging and deployment of our product.

  • Ability to read/write simple to complex PowerShell 2.0, Bash, Python, Ruby or similar scripts for system automation and configuration management.

  • High self-motivation and ability to learn multiple technologies and software applications with little supervision.

  • Ability to multi-task several projects at a time.

  • Improve existing processes and/or develop new processes to improve efficiency where needed.



  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or equivalent work experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience working in DevOps.

  • Excellent system, software and network troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong scripting and/or programming experience (e.g. Perl, Python, Ruby, Java, C#, other)

  • Some experience with Linux (e.g. CentOS 6+, RHEL 6+, other)

  • Some experience with databases (e.g. SQL Server 2008, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)

  • Some experience with configuration and maintenance of web servers (e.g. IIS 7.0+, NGINX, Apache)

  • Excellent (written and spoken) communication.


  • Experience with build automation and scripting. (e.g. Ant, Gradle, Jenkins, Hudson, etc.)

  • Experience with software development and version control tools (e.g. Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, Microsoft Team Foundation Server, Git.)
