Software Engineering Manager
Remote - Texas or California
The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop software for platforms, peripherals, applications and diagnostics — all with the most advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and the collaboration of internal and external partners.

Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ talent according to strategy.
Plan staffing levels and recruit talent
Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the operating unit in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for disagreement over ideas, conflict and expeditious conflict resolution, and the appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, support, and working effectively together to enable each employee and the department to succeed.
Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of Dell.
Lead employees using Dell's performance management and development processes.
Lead employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment.
Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary.
Closely coordinate with domain and technical leads as well operations and program managers on short and long term outlook.
Manage on premise resources as well as remote resources.
Take part in the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department
Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
5 years + experience as a manager for a SW development team or in similar capacity
Solid understanding of SW development and SDLC processes.
Experience and/or certification in Agile methodologies
Experience from Telecom product and/or cloud SW development
Strong written and spoken communication skills.
Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills
Management experience in a matrix organized workplace
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop an organization and its members
Demonstrated knowledge of basic economics, budgeting, and accounting principles and practices.
Evidence of the ability to practice a high level of confidentiality.
Excellent organizational management skills.
