What you’ll achieve

Dell is looking for a Research Scientist to join Applied AI Research & Engineering in Customer Financial Services (CFS). In partnership with Dell CFS leadership, they will help realize a long-term vision that transforms the processes of today into new AI-driven processes. They will work closely with strategists and other technical leads to ensure that best practices are embedded in end-to-end solutions. Some research efforts will be internal, while others will be in collaboration with academic institutions and/or business partners. The Research Scientist should embody the creativity and urgency to conduct research yielding more intelligent machines and cutting-edge solutions. The Research Scientist should have the practical business knowledge required to build an extensive research portfolio that will generate long-term value for Dell’s business functions and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cutting-edge research in machine intelligence in multiple areas of strategic importance

  • Build a research agenda for short-term and long-term projects

  • Design and test analytical methods with a creative blend of theory and practice

  • Conduct collaborative research with business partners and with research labs

  • Interact with business leaders to understand business strategy, conditions, and problem areas

  • Present findings to executives

  • Develop IP in the form of patents and present research in conferences

  • Serve as subject-matter expert in presentations to customers and larger audiences

  • Mentor research interns and guide data scientists

  • Minimum Requirement

  • PhD/Master’s in Computer Science or a related technical field. Candidates with Bachelor’s degrees and extensive research experience will also be considered

  • Experience in Natural Language Understanding, Computer Vision, and Machine Learning

  • Experience contributing to research communities and/or efforts, including publications at conferences and/or patents

  • Experience in developing deep learning algorithms

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver enterprise grade AI/ML solutions in large scale environments

  • GPU programming experience

  • Passion for staying informed on developments in research communities and with emerging technologies (E.g., big data, data science, ML, DL, RL)

  • Coding experience in Python/R and C/ C++ Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in RL/DRL, preferably in Conversational AI

  • Experience in document intelligence and designing virtual agents
