The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop software for platforms, peripherals, applications and diagnostics — all with the most advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and the collaboration of internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, review, analysis and implementation of Dell differentiating platform software features for next generation Dell products

  • Participate in product development in all stages from planning and design to development and testing

  • Code/debug and guide others to code/debug flexible, scalable and complex programs, using either written design specifications

  • Contribute to the design and architecture of high-quality systems management software

  • Provides the review, analysis and closed-loop corrective action for issues contributing to software defects and business process problems

  • Presents accurate project status to senior leadership, at both a summary and detailed level

  • Prepares technical documents used internally and externally to provide both summary and detailed technical information other teams require to complete projects and tasks

Essential Requirements

  • Typically requires 12+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8+ years with a Master’s degree; or 5+ years with a PhD; or equivalent experience. Bachelors or higher degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a similar field.

  • UEFI BIOS/firmware software development experience

  • Experience with Intel and/or AMD system architectures

  • Strong programming experience using languages such as C, C++ or C# and Agile software development methodologies

  • Experience using scripting languages such as Python, Ruby or Perl

  • Experience using analyzers and other hardware tools to debug complex system software issues

  • Familiar with various hardware bus interfaces such as PCI, SMBUS, LPC, I2C, etc.
