The Senior Director, Innovation Strategy is responsible for leading a team of strategists, planners and analysts that define and drive the global product and innovation strategy for Dell Client Products. This role will provide leadership and vision for Dell’s client solutions based on quantitative and qualitative analysis, deep customer insights, market and competitive research and outside-in innovation scouting. The Senior Director is responsible for assessing technology investments and answering the question “Why should we do this?”

Detailed responsibilities include leading a team to:

  • Develop a process to systematically create (and update) the global landscape for the industry, and a viewpoint on where trends are taking our industry.

  • Perform market analyses to inform product ideation and innovation.

  • Understand customer needs and pain-points to assess the value of innovative opportunities to differentiate Dell’s Client Solutions.

  • Project ethnographic and socioeconomic factors to predict future trends, needs and user pain points

  • Analyze emerging industry and technology trends and their impact and applicability to Dell.

  • Identify new markets and product opportunities

  • Comprehend future user experiences and team with Technologists, Experientialists and Product management to create multi-year technology, feature and product roadmaps that lead to successful delivery of these experiences in a defined time horizon

  • Detect competitive threats and development of strategies to leapfrog competition

  • Identify expansion opportunities including mergers and acquisitions to achieve the company goals

  • Collaborate closely with the executive teams of all Client business units globally to identify synergies, drive joint innovation and deliver outstanding products

  • Manage the innovation funnel with quantitative and qualitative rigor (e.g. stage gate criteria, financial business case projections, target markets, target customers, etc.)

  • Drive a model of lean, rapid cycle innovation

  • Hire, lead, and mentor the product strategy team. Inspire them to think strategically and to creatively solve our customer’s and the end-customer's pain points. Foster an environment of shared ideas, “out of the box”-thinking, mentorship, and growth

  • Drive a high level of employee engagement by effectively communicating company strategy and product vision

  • Serve as the product and technology strategy expert with customers and others both internally and externally events to promote Dell as a thought leader in the industry

The right candidate must possess initiative, creativity and drive, have broad relevant strategic and international knowledge with exceptional business management expertise and have excellent written and verbal communication skills, long with a passion for and knowledge of technology and its applications. The Senior Director will interact with co-workers at all levels of the company.

Essential Requirements

  • 10+ years of strategy consulting, corporate strategy/planning or product strategy within a technology company or management consulting firm.

  • High-value personal qualities, including resourcefulness, responsibility, tenacity, independence, self-confidence, and high-energy.
