UEFI/BIOS Firmware Principal Engineer

We lead and deliver the analysis, design, programming, debugging, troubleshooting or modification of software for firmware applications. Our team oversees programming activities involving analog and digital hardware as well as software operating systems. We also influence product development at all stages. In short, we use the latest technology to modify existing solutions, in addition to developing innovative new software and firmware solutions

What you’ll achieve

As a UEFI/BIOS Firmware Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation and validation of UEFI/BIOS features for Dell notebook and desktop platforms. You will work with other BIOS developers and architects on BIOS technologies such as power management, system security, and platform management.

You will:

  • Work in a collaborative team environment following the Agile Scrum Methodology

  • Utilize the UEFI Firmware stack to design and implement firmware features for Dell notebook and desktop platforms

  • Development firmware solutions using C/C++ and Python

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field with 8+ years of industry experience

  • 8 years of programming experience in C/C++ and scripting languages such as Python

  • 8 years of demonstrated knowledge of systems software, data structures and algorithms

  • 6 years of software development experience on x86 architecture platforms

  • 6 years of experience with version control systems such as Subversion or Git

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills

Desirable Requirements

  • 4+ years of UEFI BIOS and/or Embedded Controller development experience with Intel and/or AMD x86 architectures

  • 4+ years of embedded programming experience

  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies and experience with software collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence

  • Experience with technologies and standards used on PC platforms such as PCIe, NVMe, USB, SPI, I2C, DDR, ACPI

  • Experience with debug equipment such as Windows debugger (WinDBG), AMD HDT, Intel ITP, and ASSET/American Arium XDP

  • Knowledge and/or experience with in-band and out-of-band management of PC-based devices

  • Knowledge and/or experience with System Management BIOS (SMBIOS)
