We support the opportunity lifecycle from development through to contracting, acting as the primary liaison between the customer and the financial support organizations. RPF tenders, customer business case analysis, total cost of ownership modelling – we take it all in our stride.
As a Proposal Manager, you will work with the sales teams to deliver compelling tender responses to our external customers. You will lead cross-functional teams for the priority accounts and opportunities and manage the end-to-end proposal process / bid campaign for medium complexity proposals. This role is a key interface, between the sales account team, solutions team, finance, legal and management, and has significant impact on the bid response process, and commercial success of Dell’s business. This high visibility role requires the ability to work under pressure and to meet demanding deadlines. You will provide support to both the Commercial and Enterprise business in South East Asia, and also global accounts head-quartered in the APJ region.
Opportunity qualification: review customer documents and qualifying the opportunity with the opportunity owner.
Risk identification: review customer documents and proposed Dell solution to ascertain legal and delivery risk.
Customer document review and deconstruction: review of technical and commercial requirements, and ability to relay those to the bid team members.
Identify and gather bid team members per solution requirements. Ability to interpret and align customer requirements with our lines of business.
Task assignment for response questions and identify accountable owners in the bid team.
Create response templates and/or modify customer response templates as required (almost always in MS Word).
Manage and track the content and input received from bid team collaborators and members.
Create customised responses where standard content is unavailable. Requires ability to interpret information, summarise and write compelling content.
Publish timelines and key milestones for the bid team.
Assist with creation of related customer presentations.
Document archive and undertake post-bid administration.
Generally, the role also involves:
Partnering with sales teams to understand the customer base, and support Dell’s overall business objectives.
Coordination the sales force and cross-functional organisations, including services, finance, and legal.
Managing multiple proposals simultaneously with varying complexity and deadlines.
Will involve working with regional teams on projects that will impact the proposal process.
Providing technical writing expertise authoring content that articulates the win themes and value proposition that addresses the requirements of the customer’s required business outcomes.
Working with senior management to ensure compliance to the governance framework established for bid qualification, finance and legal, and ultimately proposal gate.
Identifying opportunities for process improvements to improve customer experience and response procedures.
Communication skills — strong writing skills including English grammar and punctuation, and an ability to work with different regional teams and cultures.
Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
The ability to self-manage workload and work with remote internal customers.
Cross functional experience, organisational agility with experience navigating a large organisation.
Negotiation and influencing skills, internal and preferably customer facing.
Project management skills, ability to deliver quality results under pressure and to deadlines, must be results oriented with a drive for excellence.
Attention to detail.
5-8 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience within bid or proposal management, preferably in IT or similar environment.
