Network Architect - F5 Load Balancing

We are looking for an individual to serve as a load balancing architect and engineer. A large portion of our environment resides on F5 Networking equipment. This candidate must understand all layers of the OSI model and be able to diagnose complex issues related to network and application problems. Must be able to understand large enterprise network environments and be able to provide solutions that support applications of all types (TCP, HTTP, UDP, FTP, etc.) to work on full proxy load balancers.
Being that this position is also a network engineering role, part of this individual’s responsibility will be to offer advice, direction, and support to other associates on the team. Must be able to articulate customer requirements and explain them to management and other team members.
Meets with application teams to design complex (layer 3-7 network) load balancing solutions
Partners with other network and engineering teams to solution load balancing infrastructure for cloud and datacenter environments
Provides L3 operational support for production F5 Network infrastructure: Local Traffic Manager (LTM), Global Traffic Manager (GTM) and Access Policy Manager (APM)
Routinely applies broad knowledge of network-related processes and procedures to the completion of complex assignments
Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of highly complex problems
If working remotely, will need to be able to come into Round Rock office twice/month as needed for projects
Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years relevant experience; or Master’s degree with 8+ years relevant experience; or equivalent work experience
F5 Administrator experience and/or F5-CA Certification
Strong knowledge of F5's Traffic Management Shell (TMSH) operating system
Strong knowledge of F5's LTM and GTM firmware for version 11 and/or 12
Advanced knowledge of F5 load balancing, Force 10 and Dell PowerConnect products
Advanced knowledge of Cisco Systems Products (routers and switches)
Strong knowledge and experience in monitoring tools along the lines of TCP decode, packet traces, Wireshark, and Fiddler
Understanding of Domain Name System (DNS) & Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP); experience with BlueCat and/or Infoblox a plus
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), preferably Routing and Switching
Advanced knowledge of security issues and implications to network solutions
Advanced knowledge of network dynamic routing protocols: Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)
Advanced knowledge of network WAN technologies: Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS), IP SLA (Internet protocol service level agreement)
Network Optimization knowledge; experience with Silver Peak is a plus
Possesses knowledge, skills and abilities required to resolve most network-related problems; ability to consistently apply broad knowledge of network administration to the diagnoses and resolution of network problems
Advanced knowledge of network performance, hardware and software
Effective communication skills within and outside team
High level of documentation ability required
