What you’ll achieve
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software basis the customer’s business goals, needs and general business environment creating software solutions.
Contribute to the design and architecture of new or re-engineered software environments.
Development in one or more technology areas, with specific focus on advanced software programs and algorithms, to help broaden Dell EMC’s intellectual property portfolio, advance our technology leadership, and influence future product roadmaps.
Projects may span multiple technological areas, including but not limited to cloud-native infrastructure, machine learning, advanced data protection techniques, containers, microservices, open source, and other emerging technologies.
Contributing as a team member to technical projects, architecture, research, technology proof-of-concepts and implementation of new technologies in a small collaborative startup-like environment.
Practice Extreme Programming and collaborate and partner with peers within Dell and partners.
Build and review design, functional, technical and/or user documentation, as needed.
Develop, review and implement test strategies for software products and systems.

Experience or interest in DevOps & agile software development.
Strong communication skills and an ability to articulate technical vision while understanding business requirements. A conviction to ones implementation approach but not so unwavering that they cannot be swayed based on sound logic and feedback from their peers to see a “higher value" implementation.
DevOps promotes the collapse of different functions into one; QA, IT, Dev etc. As a result, each developer will have a working knowledge of Ruby, Linux OS commands and be equally comfortable at the command line as they are in the IDE.
Strong understanding of programming patterns is important and required. The ideal candidate will know an Object Oriented programming language with a deep understanding of programming patterns and demonstrable knowledge of object oriented programming will suffice. Our expectation is good foundational knowledge in a language such as Go/Java/Python/C++ is necessary.
Knowledge of the cloud and deployment expectations and complexities.
Experience and practice using TDD to demonstrate functioning code that meets requirements
Validated knowledge of system performance, scaling, operating systems, debugging, network and application administration, diagnosing and troubleshooting software.
Experience with Linux command line for system configuration and administration.
Familiarity with modern, cloud based & container technologies, REST APIs, hardware and software interactions are definitely a plus.
Capacity to achieve proficiency of new tools, languages and operating systems with training and on-the-job experience.
