What you’ll achieve
This role is based in Bangalore but will service and lead efforts all across the globe. This includes but not limited to test automation strategy, approach, tools enablement, and test scripting for the functional, system, and user level of testing across Dell Client Software products.
The Automation Strategist will be responsible for researching, designing, specifying, directing, and implementing automation of testing for pre-production personal computer software to improve quality, efficiency, and scalability.
Responsible for a broad range of automation tasks from individual device or unit test to system level and solution level testing. The candidate must possess excellent understanding of hardware and software interactions, and able to apply this understanding to resolve issues.
Automation must be targeted to the user environment, which is primarily Windows 10, but may also include older Windows operating systems as well as Linux and Chrome OS.
Will define and implement a cross-functional automation strategy and utilize global resources to accomplish each automation task. The strategy will include the workflows and tools necessary to implement. The solution will require a user-friendly interface for global resources to utilize, as well as robust data collection, storage, and analysis capabilities, including AI/Machine learning where applicable.
Will be expected to implement SW development controls such as code reviews, version controls, and workflows that support both an Agile and Waterfall development models. The candidate will utilize skills in web development, Python, and SQL. The role requires occasional to travel to global sites, and remote direction of the activities of global resources within Dell and with partners.
Leads the Test Engineering Automation Steering Committee to determine what new test methods and tools are required for new technologies
Develops significant new test methods and tools for testing of new hardware and solutions products
Works with designers and technologists to develop automation and test tools for future technologies
Authors and presents to leadership innovative test process and methodology improvements from an end-to-end test perspective
Identifies and develops strategic test partnerships with ODMs and supplier

Diagnoses and resolves ambiguous problems.
Leads rigorous process and service improvement programs.

Requires 15+ years of related experience.
Experience with creating and working with automation frameworks using pytest, TestNg, Junit. C#, Python scripting
Must have experience working on API automation (REST + python preferred).
Must have of experience working on automation development using any programming language preferably python.
Must have experience working on UI automation using Ruby or Selenium, Ranorex, WinAppDriver, Robot, etc.
Must have experience working on CI/CD tools like Jenkins.
Preferably have worked on performance testing using tools like JMeter.
Should have worked previously using tools like Git/Rally or any equivalent Agile tool.
Experience in developing and debugging in one or more of the languages Java , Python, C#
Must have proven experience transitioning development teams from manual to an automated test environment
Proficient in Agile and Waterfall development environments.
Masters in Computer Science or Engineering
