Job Title: Software Engineering Manager

The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop software for platforms, peripherals, applications and diagnostics — all with the most advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and the collaboration of internal and external partners.

What you’ll achieve

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will oversee the delivery of products within budget, schedule and quality guidelines and manage a team responsible for the design, development, testing, integration, maintenance, documentation and support of software. You will interact with project managers, marketing, sales, procurement, quality, legal and end-users to define application requirements and/or selection of partners.

You will:

  • Manage teams of software and quality automations engineers working on a suite of capabilities which will be part of the APEX E2E solution

  • Act as both a strong technical software lead and people management lead to deliver a world class product to our customers

  • Participate in long-range planning and development of operational goals and engineering

  • Work with OPCC leadership across the OPCC teams, and APEX leadership across APEX Engineering, to meet organizational goals

  • Provide innovative solutions to complex problems and communicate progress toward project/program goals

  • Oversee all software development activities for the team

  • Accountable for all software deliverables by team on time to agreed quality and engineering standards.

  • Recruit, lead and facilitate career development for a world-class Engineer team

  • Be an advocate in setting and driving engineering best practices to deliver high quality software in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to ensure that your team is successful and meets its goals

  • Establish a positive and productive culture, encouraging and inspiring team members to excel both individually and as a cohesive group.

  • Hands on technical leadership and the ability to get into the code and design process as required

Essential Requirements

  • Software development experience in successfully bringing new products to market

  • Passionate about being a People Leader

  • 3+ years experience managing a high-performing software development team

  • Knowledge of software development methods, design and implementation

  • Expertise in languages, tools, and techniques used to implement quality software products

  • Strong communicator, and be comfortable communicating technically at both high and low levels.

  • Ability to create a collaborative and supportive people-based culture

Desirable Requirements

  • Extensive experience designing and developing enterprise software

  • Experience in on premises software & Infrastructure as a Service

  • Experience of test driven development, software configuration management, automated testing, CI/CD

  • Experience in recruiting and team building

  • Business Acumen
