What you’ll achieve
As Legal Counsel, you will serve as a technical real estate law authority within the global legal organization and manage a variety of Dell’s international real estate, facilities, and environment health and safety legal matters. You will creatively and strategically support key business objectives and develop innovative solutions and systems to support Dell’s objectives, as well as anticipate and guard against legal risks involving the organization
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, with strong communication skills, and be able to effectively interact with a high-energy client base.
Develop and manage internal customer relationships; review and respond to internal and external legal inquiries
Draft, review and negotiate legal documents, including commercial real estate leases, for business needs related to the global facilities organization
Advise on construction design and operations management
Advise on environment, health and safety matters
Provide M&A support as it pertains to real estate assets, consolidation projects, etc.
Manage outside counsel and review legal data to advise senior legal personnel and the facilities organization on appropriate legal action to be taken
Build internal and external industry alliances to gain and share information and industry trends

JD degree with admission to at least one state bar
5+ years related experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment
Must have expertise with leasing and real estate law
Ability to recognize, understand and address client needs
Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
Experience dealing with real estate issues in the context of commercial leasing, plus construction/design contracting, facilities procurement and mergers and acquisitions highly preferred
Experience supporting Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) issues
