We are looking for talented, driven, self-starter individuals to join our Telco business unit engineering team. This role requires a demonstrated ability to conduct code development, test, and delivery for Dell’s telco products and solutions offerings.

The Telecom Systems Business creates products and solutions catering for the worldwide telecommunications market, which is exploding with new and exciting opportunities offered by new developments such as 5G, Internet of Things, and virtualized radio access networks (RANs). The market consists of communication service providers, managed service providers, hosting companies, content delivery network companies, cloud service providers, and consumer/enterprise web-technology providers.

Expert in eNodeB/gNodeB software development, validation, maintenance and lifecycle
Detailed understanding of 3GPP specifications as related to CU and DU and RRU. Exposure & knowledge of O-RAN specs, TIP/OpenRAN projects, and/or ONF SD-RAN.
Strong knowledge in 4G and 5G Radio and/or subsystems architecture, implementation and ecosystem
Bachelors or master’s in computer science, computer engineering, or related disciplines, with a minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience. However, exceptional candidates without college degrees who may have long industry experience and can demonstrate their skills & abilities will also be considered.
In this role you will:
Build out a RAN lab – for development, test, and customer demonstration purposes
Be the overall owner for software resident on distributedunits (DU), or centralized units (CU), or remote radio units (RRU), interworking specifications for external interfaces of the DUor CUor RRU and functional specifications and architecture for DU/ CU/ RRUsoftware; and ensure that all software requirements are covered by verification activities and that all verification activities are allocated to designer verification or formal verification teams as appropriate
Ensure consistent high standards across in-house design, contracted design work, third-party partnerships, and OEM solutions, drive solutions aligned with 3GPP and O-RAN Alliance (O-RAN) specifications for 4G and 5G networks in the open RAN ecosystem and collaborate closely throughout the development process to jointly establish top-level product characteristics, technology selections, performance algorithms, verification techniques, and sign-off of verification results
Be the leader at the center of internal teams and many different external collaboration models ranging from contacted design, co-design partnerships, to turn-key OEM sourcing of broadband 4G and 5G radio products
Guide product definition to efficient and effective solutions with compelling customer value in real network deployments: from documenting all aspects of the offering and deliver to professional document writing team for internal / external / customer facing publication, participating in, and enthusiastically contribute to the overall system design, demonstrating a drive to meet individual and team goals to working with external software partners (including open-source projects) to evaluate, understand, incorporate, and successfully integrate their software technologies into the platform product
Act with broad curiosity, and focus on deep technologies, as / when necessary and be able to effectively operate in a globally dispersed team environment spanning US, European, and India time zones
When called for, demonstrate ability to multi-task and to adapt to changing business priorities
Expert in hardware architecture embedding high performance CPU, DSP, GPU, NPU and FPGA devices, their high-speed memory subsystems, and interconnect solutions, network timing and synchronization, stratum clocking, including remote and outdoor applications
Experience with bring-up and integration of CPU, DSP, GPU, and NPU devices
Experience of development including vIMS, vEPC, RAN, OpenRAN/O-RAN, LTE/4G and 5G deployments, OSS/BSS, platform models such as NFV and distributed/federated edge platforms (e.g. ETSI MEC)
Knowledge of distributed systems architecture, design, and implementation. Experience with classic distributed algorithms (implementation, system configuration, trade-offs, state-of-the-art) will be considered a huge plus. An understanding of stateful and stateless (i.e. declarative) execution
Knowledge of Modern software development processes including test-driven development, DevOps models, continuous integration, continuous testing, agile development with Jira/Git/Bitbucket/Confluence or similar platforms
