Role Overview

Working within Secureworks Managed Security Services division, the Vulnerability Management Security Specialist role is a hands-on technical role that provides technical support to our vulnerability scanning service customers. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide customers with assistance across all elements of our scanning services, from advice on service set-up and running, incident management and advice on identified security vulnerability mitigation and remediation. This is an exciting and fast moving role and the successful candidate will be expected to be confident dealing with customers on the telephone or by using written communications.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a virtual team and will be expected to build effective working relationships with other team colleagues based in other geographic regions using telephone and email as appropriate.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a solid understanding of current infrastructure, operating system and application vulnerabilities across a wide variety of systems and will also be expected to maintain this understanding as new threats emerge and vulnerabilities are identified. This role would therefore be ideally suited to a candidate who has a genuine interest in understanding and continually enhancing their knowledge of information security.

Essential Requirements

  • Solid technical understanding across a variety of infrastructure components and servers such as Linux/Unix, MS Windows and network infrastructure components such as routers, switches and firewalls

  • Previous experience in administering some of the above infrastructure types

  • Solid working knowledge of TCP/IP

  • Solid understanding of Qualys VM, WAS and Cloud Agent Modules with around 2+ years experience

  • Experience with network and application security testing tools and scripting languages such as - Nessus, Nmap, Paros, Perl, Python

  • Ability to manage a priority list of tickets and projects, using own decision making capability to ensure agreed target deadlines are met

  • Strong team member skills, building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues in different disciplines and geographies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English language)

  • Strong technical problem solving skills

Desirable Requirements

  • One or more industry qualifications are desirable such as:QualysGuard Certified SpecialistPCI ASV CertificationCISSPQSAAn industry related degree, whilst not essential would be an advantage, e.g. BSc in Computing Science or another relevant technical field
