Dell Boomi - Director of Procurement (US Remote) in Florida

Boomi is a business unit acquired by Dell ( Technologies in 2010 that specializes in integration platform as a service (iPaaS) ( . Boomi has annual revenues of $300M in 2020, with approximately 1,100 employees and 15.000 customers growing 25% to 30% per year. In May 2021, Francisco Partners and TPG Capital entered into an agreement with Dell to acquire Boomi and is expected to close in October 2021. The purpose of the investment is to grow the company from $300M to $1B in 5 years via M&A and organic growth.

As a part of the carve out from Dell, Boomi, with support of Francisco Partners Consulting and TPG Capital Procurement Ops team, is standing up a new procurement function and will hire a new resource to lead the team. (All procurement resources and systems currently servicing Boomi will be left behind at Dell and the new leader will be expected to develop a new organization (People, Process, Technology) from in the first year of the role. The new organization will partner with the business to a) manage key vendor relationships, b) optimize value from total addressable spend of $120 million, and c) build a team and infrastructure necessary to service the organization beyond its current scale. Key spend categories include software, services, telecom, marketing, T&E, healthcare benefits and other “indirect” categories common in a software company.

The new Director will report to the Corporate Controller or VP of Finance, take responsibility for all spend management, contracting, and procurement operations for the enterprise, and be based anywhere in the United States. (Following the carve out, Boomi will maintain offices in Chesterbrook, PA and Exeter, UK, but will have a flexible work location policy.

Candidate Criteria

  • Functional Experience: Supplier and commodity management experience of appropriate scale (e.g. >$100M in spend) for a broad spectrum of indirect categories:

  • Experience with IT (software, cloud) and IT related professional services categories is required.

  • Experience with other indirect categories: HR, Finance, Marketing, etc. are preferred, but not required.

  • Prior PE and/or high growth experience is valued but not required.

  • Functional Depth: Expertise in modern strategic sourcing and procurement processes and systems:

  • Category planning: Creation and implementation of category/vendor strategy in partnership with business stakeholders

  • Sourcing Execution: Expert sourcing, negotiating and contracting. Direct experience with negotiating with powerful software/hardware providers (e.g., Microsoft, AWS and Salesforce) is required.

  • Operations & System. Experience with the set-up, implementations, and use of procurement and sourcing technologies and operations process: P2P, p-cards, catalogs, e-sourcing, contract repository, etc.

  • Growth Experience & Orientation. Track record of scaling sourcing and procurement operations in growth-oriented environments.

  • Must have “Customer Service” mentality with partnering with Functional leaders and key stakeholders

  • Experience building processes, systems, and organization capability.

  • Exposure to acquisition diligence, integration, and cost-out initiatives.

  • Hands on. Nimble and self-reliant. Able to work at multiple levels in the organization without supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to measure, communicate, and connect procurement results to EBITDA
