LOCATION : anywhere in the US. Draper, Utah preferred.
This position will be a core member of the team charged with the design/build/run responsibilities for monitoring the Virtustream cloud platform. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to lead people and projects; foster teamwork and collaboration across organizations and geographies. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and presentation skills. Analyze complex business problems and issues using data to provide insight to critical business decisions. Integrate data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements. Knowledge of aspects of data intelligence and analytics strategies and methodologies. Demonstrated knowledge of project management, able to identify business impact of proposed projects and designs. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives, without appreciable direction. Readily adapts to the complexities of global business and fosters global processes, strategies and goals. Work and collaborate with other members of cross functional teams, and business groups on company wide monitoring initiatives. Considered a subject matter expert on monitoring within the company. Write functional detailed design specs as well as responding to requirement documents and system level plans. Significant contributor to organizational goals and objectives.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Identify the requirements, architect and implement a monitoring solution
Partner with technical teams across the organization in order to determine scope and requirements for monitoring solution designs
Configuration and documentation of monitoring systems, driving monitoring systems knowledge transfer within the organization
Integrates and manages middleware and software tools within the various computing platforms
Develops and implements solutions to ensure stable and available monitoring systems
Researches infrastructure software, tools, and emerging technologies
Develops and implements policies, strategies, guidelines, standards, and procedures related to monitoring infrastructure
Develops processes and tools for managing the monitoring infrastructure
Monitors and supports the environment in accordance with service level expectations
Work closely with our IT engineering & delivery teams to partner on rollout of solutions
Provide proactive health checks, capacity management, and software updates as necessary to maintain the health of the environment.
Solid development skills (Perl, C, Java, etc) – Ruby or Python preferred
2+ years experience integrating with ServiceNow or comparable ITSM system via API
5+ years demonstrated experience in distributed system design, implementation and administration
4+ years experience with Dell Compute and VMware technologies
Extensive experience in at least 2 programming/scripting languages
Configuration management (Puppet, Chef, CFEngine) - SaltStack preferred
Strong competency in Windows and Unix operating systems
Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure systems, such as SAN, converged networking, firewalls, routers, and virtual systems management including Windows and Unix OS
Ability to teach and or train others on infrastructure technology
Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally
Ability to think critically in evaluating problems and proposed solutions
Strong team motivation and organizational skills within and external to the department
