Dell Lab Support Engineer 1 in Franklin, Massachusetts

  • Job Title: Entry Level Lab Systems Engineer

  • GENERAL SUMMARY

Perform installations, preventive and remedial maintenance of servers, software, network, storage and SAN equipment located in LAB computing environment. Adhere to administrative policies and escalation procedures. Answer technical questions about enterprise tooling, hardware and software. Interface with application, server and storage vendors to establish successful integration of equipment into associated systems, including technical assistance. Works with engineering departments to develop successful measurements to establish metrics. Ability to proactively monitor applications and data center environments. Demonstrates a high degree of self-initiative. Performs other duties as required.

  • PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and troubleshoot the technical environment for problems and root cause analysis

  • Maintain a working knowledge of all documented processes and procedures.

  • Able to perform break fix tasks in a technical environment.

  • Provide architect level client/server and SAN/storage array support for the configuration and maintenance of the engineering computer lab systems

  • Installation of Host bus adaptors.

  • Provides technical expertise in the development of collaborative platform client application/customer interface.

  • Installation of equipment in racks.

  • Monitoring and management software for physical, virtual, and cloud-based infrastructures

  • SKILLS

  • Proficiency in hardware, software and operating systems.

  • Advanced technical expertise in virtualization to include VMware suite/applications (ESXi, VSAN, Vcenter, vRealize, vOrchestrator, VDP)

  • Proficiency in orchestration tools and applications

  • Proficiency in backup/restore client applications

  • Troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.

  • Technical writing skills.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.

  • Customer service skills

  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycles, tools, and Agile processes

  • EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelors

  • EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2-3 Years

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Yes – Must be able to lift 40 pounds .
