Software System Principal Engineer - Franklin, MA

What you’ll achieve
Our Software Systems Engineering team ensures that our customers have the software systems they need for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and deliver software systems modifications as well as enhancements of new products. We oversee product development at all stages: planning, designing, developing and testing operating systems, compilers, routers, utilities, databases, embedded management and control devices, plus internet-related tools.
You will:
Collaborate with several storage OS team/architects to develop benchmarks running on DellEMC system (PowerScale, ECS, VxRail, etc) that enable early evaluation related to Quality of Service, latency control, redundancy and volume management for flash based storage.
Perform benchmark test (FIO, SpecFS, IOzone) on legacy storage devices (SAS/SATA SSD and HDD) when required
Work with various team and community to develop and improve NVMe utilities
Build (rack and stack) and maintain lab infrastructure to make sure system management, OS and tools are up to date to perform the required research on various storage devices (HDD, SSD) to support various benchmark such as NoSQLdatabse, SQL server OLTP, SPC-1C, VMmark virtualization, VDI, KeyValue Store , etc
Documents procedure and publish results in technical reports, white papers and online web pages.
Analyze, debug, and resolve inter-operability or firmware issues observed during testing in order to complete assignment within schedule

Essential Requirements
Ability to rack and stack server to build and connect system infrastructure
Strong working knowledge of enterprise server and storage benchmarks and utilities
Strong knowledge of Linux, FIO, NVMe-CLI, and a scripting language (Python, Ruby, Perl, …)
Ability to quickly translate storage system NVMe drive use case into bench level test for feasibility
Strong understanding of RAID technology, UEFI, and Windows, VMWare, and Linux OS
Experience with storage protocols (NVMe/SAS/SATA/etc.) and protocol analyzers
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
5+ years of experience with Linux kernel and device driver model
5+ years of experience scripting with PHP, Python or Perl
Desirable Requirements
Experience with hardware security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography
5+ years of experience coding with C/C++ Ability to work in a fast paced and highly technical team
Knowledge of RTOS and microprocessor architecture, experience debugging firmware issues using JTAG and/or protocol traces
Ability to use and understand PCIe/NVMe analyzer (LeCroy, SerialTek, or Xgig)
Ability to debug drive firmware and hardware issues
Flexible attitude about near term goals and priority
