Field Engineer - Global Storage Service
This position will be based in Espoo Finland, and reporting to the Regional Field Service Manager. You will be trained to perform the installation and configuration of Dell | EMC hardware and software and complex storage solutions.
Responsible for the technical delivery / Installation /Recovery of all aspects of the enterprise work required to be undertaken for global, corporate, public and large pad accounts within the Dell professional services support environment. The role ensures a positive customer experience by proactively managing customers’ expectations whilst on-site by providing an oversight and high level of communication with both the Dell support groups and the customer in accordance with Dell policy.
Primary measure of success and key aspects of the Enterprise Deployment Engineer role is the understanding of the work to be completed, clear and effective communication with all parties, the completion of work within the timescales set and the completion of the necessary paperwork in accordance with the customer sign-off process.
Individuals with key technical and customer focussed skills are preferred, people who lead by example and can deal with ambiguity effectively, which can further enhance the established performance related culture within the services group to constantly improve customer experience and the name of Dell as a services organisation within the marketplace.
Principal duties and responsibilities
85% of available time will be spent performing complex storage, Networking and server installations, configurations, and upgrades at customer sites. These will include installing Dell branded products into diverse data centres and integrating with existing Wintel and UNIX/Linux, VmWare, HyperV environments. Often working with local Dell Service Provider Engineers, Dell Pre-Sales Engineers and Consultants and Dell GSS and Consulting partners.
15% of available time will be spent in performing administration tasks, updating technical configuration documents, attending team meetings and training.
The job requires 40% travel (nights away from home), often internationally, possibly across the Nordic region. The job requires some (±15%) evening and weekend work.
Integrating into the professional services group to provide the technical knowledge and experience required to deliver enterprise deployments, effectively and on time and perform chargeable installation services of highly complex storage and server configurations for customers.
Ensuring cross-functional communication with other parts of the business as required.
Ensuring that all on-site escalations are managed through to conclusion using the appropriate processes and ensuring that all the appropriate stakeholders are continuously informed.
Coaching and developing colleagues so that they have the skills and knowledge to be successful in their current and future roles.
Ensuring that a team belief is fostered within the group looking at achieving resolution by teamwork and engaging resources as required.
Ensure the continued training and development of themselves both technically and within the customer management criteria.
Influence and motivate others to deliver the best of themselves in meeting business challenges and objectives.
Provide relevant input to Manufacturing functions, marketing and services to improve the quality of all products (hardware and services).
Qualifications, accreditations and experience
Strong PC industry experience.
ESF1 / ESF2 Accreditation are desirable.
Microsoft / Novell / Linux operating system qualifications are desirable.
VMware Skills certified
Very good working knowledge & practical experience of Dell products Preferred
Within 60 days of starting, must qualify as:
Dell Certified Systems Expert (DCSE) in servers
Enterprise Service Force (ESF) level 2 certified (exam score >90%)
