Consultant Messaging Platform Engineer - Kafka

What you’ll achieve

The Consultant Messaging Platform Engineer provides middleware messaging engineering, administration and system support for new and existing production RabbitMQ and Kafka environments to include performance of the following related tasks: software installation, patch installation, upgrades, object definition, configuration, security, system monitoring and tuning, disaster recovery planning, implementation and backup and recovery.

Work independently on day-to-day monitoring and operations of cloud and legacy applications. You will be required to develop automation using scripting languages. You will also be able to handle critical operational tasks as well as on-demand requests.

You will:

  • Design, build and support Enterprise large scale distributed Messaging platforms

  • Identify and implement best practices to support a highly available platform (considerations include business continuity/disaster recovery, backup and restoration, repartitioning, zero-outage upgrades, etc).

  • Implement and enforce security practices for enterprise messaging platforms

  • Provide Operational support for platform issues to application development teams

  • Address performance and scalability challenges posed by new or changing Kafka producers and consumers.

  • Lead capacity planning and proactive monitoring efforts

  • Work in Agile global team setting and mentor junior team members

Essential Requirements

  • Total 10 + years of experience in middleware messaging, application platforms management and distributed architecture/solutions

  • Strong Proven experience in managing Kafka for large scale enterprise distributed systems

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus and Elastic search

  • Deep and extensive knowledge in configuration, troubleshooting, optimization of Kafka

  • Mentor junior team members and work independently and/or team setting as needed.

  • Agile/scrum fast based delivery experience

  • Experience with RabbitMQ/Other Messaging platforms.

  • Expertise in administration and scaling of Kafka messaging platform.

  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skill for complex and large-scale messaging platform.

  • Proficiency with configuration management tools (Ansible/Puppet/Chef)

Desirable Requirements

  • Proven expertise in Kubernetes Container Orchestration, Docker Containers.

  • Experience with Open source technologies

  • Experience with Python/Java/Other programming languages
