What you’ll achieve

The role of the CTIO Principal SoftwareEngineer is to be a key member of a small and versatileadvanced developmentteam, where you design, develop, test, and demonstrate software solutions. Developers on this team typically work in pairs, employing an Extreme Programming (XP) style of execution designed to enforce shorter development and release cycles. An ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working in a fast paced and collaborative environment, providing technical expertise in prototyping business solutions. The candidate would value working as a team andhave the ability toleverage the opinions and expertise of their teammates to deliver well designed, quality code. The candidate upholds this level of quality by adhering to test driven development practices.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Leadingsoftwaredevelopment activities to help broaden DellISG’s intellectual property portfolioand influence future product roadmaps.

  • Projects may span multiple technological areas, including cloud-native infrastructure, machine learning, advanced data protection techniques, containers, microservicesandopen-sourcesoftware.

  • Contributing to the creation of technologyPrototypes and Proof-Of-Concepts.

  • Contributing as a team memberleadingto technicalsolutions, architecture, research, and implementation of new technologiesin a small collaborative startup-like environment.

  • Collaboratingwith peers within DellandDellpartners, enabling cross-company efforts.

  • Staying up to speed on all current and next generation technologies.

EssentialKnowledge/Skills:

  • Self-Motivated, Enthusiastic, Energetic and Passionate about technology and working as a part of a team.

  • Ability and Open Mindedness to quickly learn about new development methodologies andcutting-edgetechnologies.

  • Advanced understandingof programming logic and patterns and the ability to learn new programminglanguages and patterns quickly.

  • Advancedunderstanding ofsystem performance and scaling, debugging, diagnosing andtroubleshooting software.

  • Strong communication skills and an ability to articulate technical vision while understanding business requirements, with the ability to debate and collaborate with other team members.

  • Understanding of hardware and software interactions.

  • Experience intwoor more of the following languages: Go, Java, Ruby, JavaScript,C++, Rust,Bash, Python.

  • Experience with Linux command line for system configuration and administration.

  • Familiaritywith technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Cloud Foundryor equivalents.

  • Knowledge of streaming protocols,RESTAPI development, and modern design patterns.

  • Knowledge of modern, cloud-based software development tools.

  • Agile software development experiencethat enablesshorter development iterations,fast feedback loops, and the quick deployment ofproblem-free code.

  • Experiencein DevOps.

RequiredKnowledge/Skills:

  • Experience in Extreme Programming(XP).

  • Experience working across cross-functionalteams

  • Familiarity with Data center technologies such as Storage, Networking, Data Protection and more

  • Education: Bachelor’s,Master’s, or PhDDegreein Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent

  • Experience:8+ years(Bachelor’sdegree), 6+years (Master’sdegree). 3+ years (PhD)of software development, software architecture, or applied research; or equivalent experience.
