Senior Software Engineer

The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation Storage platform, enhancements and new products for a changing world. What you’ll achieve

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software basis the customer’s business goals, needs and general business environment creating software solutions.

You will:

  • Contribute to the design and architecture of new or re-engineered software/storage environments

  • Prepare written software/storage specifications for sophisticated products from architectural diagrams and documents

  • Build and review design, functional, technical and/or user documentation, as needed

  • Develop, review and implement test strategies for software products and systems

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Will design, code, test and document changes to the code and be accountable for QA test cycle code validation. Development process includes writing requirements specs, functional specs, design specs and test plans in addition to code implementation, unit testing and project integration.

  • Should be capable of working with members from various backgrounds.

  • Provide solutions for variety of issues of varying complexity limited in scope mainly in the Thin provisioning area.

  • Lead projects and execute them to completion as per VMAX quality standards.

  • Use software Debugging tools like GDB, C/Shell/Perl Scripts or develop your own quick debugging technique inside the code to debug issues. Understanding the use case and suggesting the right course of action for debugging is a key.

  • Analyze and enhance the stability, scalability, and performance of the product over time.

  • Support Software QA in resolving issues and providing fixes for issues in a timely fashion.

  • As the individual matures in the product and shows technical depth, expected that they would be part of the customer escalation list from the R&D side.

  • Collaborates well with other engineers and other engineering groups, voluntarily shares information.

  • Will also be involved in process responsibilities and cross-functional activities and projects as required.

  • Significant contributor to organizational goals and objectives.

  • Interacts cross functionally on matters that require coordination across organization lines.

  • 5–8 years of related experience


  • Programming in C

  • Hands on experience with debugging programs and application.

  • System or Kernel Level work in Unix/Linux environments in a plus.

  • Understanding of business environment.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Communication skills.

  • Presentation skills.

  • Ability to influence others to achieve results

  • Solid tool background with Jira, Github, Slack(or similar tools)

Desirable Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience.
