Dell Software System Engineer in Hopkinton, Massachusetts


  • As a member of the E-Lab engineering team, this person will contribute to the testing, certification, and validation of DELL EMC storage products

  • Individual will be responsible for configuring and optimizing the physical environment used during testing

  • Maintenance and upgrade of the said environment is also held accountable

  • As part of the integration and qualification, this person will be responsible for executing test suites, analyzing the results, reporting findings and documenting resolution for any defect.

  • This individual will also have an opportunity to develop scripting tools that will assist the group in its testing through the automation of some of the testing tools.

  • The individual must have the ability to troubleshoot software / hardware issues and execute test procedures with high quality criteria.

  • The individual is responsible for creating and maintaining working documents such as update lab documents and test procedures


  • Bachelors or equivalent in EE/CE/CS

  • Candidate must be self-motivated and able to work well in a team environment.

  • Problem identification, analysis, tracking and follow-up skills as well as ability to learn and apply new tools and applications

  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V) i.e. VCP or equivalent

  • Basic SAN/Networking concepts

  • Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills

  • Good system integration and project management skills

  • Ability to work in a remote team environment

  • Ability to prioritize and organize project tasks

  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communications skills


Working experience in following:

  • Some knowledge of basic storage technologies and properties

  • Some datacenter/lab operations experience

  • Some system administration experience related to Microsoft Windows, VMware ESX/ESXi, Linux (RHEL/SUSE).

  • Working experience with various protocols (TCP/IP, FC, iSCSI, FCoE) is desired.

  • Familiarity with Host to SAN connectivity concept (SAN switches, zoning, LUN masking) is desired.
