Our Software Systems Engineering team ensures that our customers have the software systems they need for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and deliver software systems modifications as well as enhancements of new products. We oversee product development at all stages: planning, designing, developing and testing operating systems, compilers, routers, utilities, databases, embedded management and control devices, plus internet-related tools.
Provide general to architectural level oversight on client/server to SAN/storage array support for the configuration and maintenance of the engineering and computing lab environments
Responsible for ensuring proper deployment of fiber-channel storage arrays, hosts, switches, software, and storage networking infrastructure
Ensure that the technical environment is properly monitored, and all outstanding issues rectified in a timely manner
Responsible for executing test plans. May be required to participate in the development of test configuration plans for the lab computing environment infrastructure
Develop and leverage core tools to maintain and manage storage allocation/utilization. Develop administrative processes and controls to improve system management and resource forecasting
Maintain a working knowledge of all documented processes and procedures. Suggest improvements as necessary. Identify opportunities for improvements in efficiency and responsiveness, makes recommendations and assists to implement efficiencies
Provide technical expertise in the development of collaborative platform client application/customer interface
Identify and execute on proactive and preventative system upgrades. Mentor and project-supervise less experienced test engineers Essential Requirements:
Strong system integration skills
Shell scripting (Bash, PERL, Python, PowerShell, Ansibles) for automating tasks. Create scripts using regular expressions, APIs. Document purpose and requirements of script usage
Ability to install & configure operating systems such as flavors of Linux, VMware, UNIX & Windows
The qualified candidate should have solid experience (estimated 5+ years) with various UNIX systems, Volume Management & File System, high availability software
Hands-on familiarity with various servers including the ability to work with server hardware
Familiarity with SAN concepts (end-to-end storage connectivity/ multi-path/switch/server infrastructure)
Open Systems administration expertise in Unix, Linux, Windows and VMware
A strong ability to multi-task; self-motivated and independent, but also work well in a team environment
Solid problem identification, analysis, tracking, proper follow-through skills as well as the ability to learn and apply new tools and applications
Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills and organizational skills are required for interaction with other engineering groups inside and outside of the E-Lab organization and the company
Bachelor’s in a technical field or equivalent job experience (estimated 5 – 8 years) Desirable Requirements
Cluster/Oracle Database/VDI experience
Storage related knowledge, such as storage arrays, storage virtualization, Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters, SCSI, iSCSI, Fibre & FCoE protocols
VERITAS VxVM/VxFS and clusters &/or VERITAS administration and/or architecture knowledge
Oracle Database/RAC/ASM administration & architecture knowledge
Networking - routing, gateway, IP management, tunneling, NAT
Kernel internals for debugging
Experience with protocol analyzers
