Big Data Solutions Architect
Solutions Architect will have the ability to lead architectural efforts for any customer, regardless of size and scope. As part of an enterprise planning team, the Big Data Solutions Architect possesses the knowledge of business requirements as well as an understanding of the many disciplines that make up modern Big Data architectures.
Provide thought leadership as a senior member of the technical staff in the Big Data and Analytics group.
Work and collaborate with other members of cross-functional teams and business groups on company-wide data intelligence programs. Act as a subject matter expert on Big Data, business intelligence & advanced analytics within the company.
Provide recommendations to senior management on strategic issues based on technical expertise and knowledge of industry trends combined with business needs. Act as the EMC representative to collaborate with other industry experts on data intelligence and analytics to represent and solidify EMC's thought leadership in the domain.
Directly contribute to development of Big Data architecture standards that are important to EMC. Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives, without appreciable direction.
Write functional detailed design specifications as well as responding to requirement documents and system level plans. Significant contributor to organizational goals and objectives.
Analyze complex business problems and issues using data to provide insight to critical business decisions. Integrate data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements.
Lead Business Intelligence and analytics focused forums within the company community. Member of the data governance operational committee.
Member of the publication approval committee for dashboard release reviews.
Lead design, architecture and building of data analytics solutions. Create proposed data design changes/suggestions to processes, exert significant latitude in determining objectives of an assignment.
Independently represent data intelligence and analytics programs, their relevance and expectations to senior staff. Collaborate with leaders from cross-functional teams and business groups that have an affinity to data intelligence.
Mentor others in all areas of data, design, storytelling, persuasive communication. Basic training development of junior data intelligence personnel.
10 years relevant professional experience / Bachelor’s degree (technical degree); or professional equivalence.
Broad knowledge of all aspects of Big Data and advanced analytics strategies and methodologies.
Demonstrated knowledge of project management, able to identify business impact of proposed projects and designs.
Expert in all necessary processes, applications, and tools, provides immediate value and contribution to projects and problem solving. Ability to conceptualize and self-initiate solutions to complex problems, identify business impact of these solutions.
Ability to apply advanced data analytics and science theories, principles, and concepts. Well-developed understanding of the business and competitive environment.
Ability to lead people, projects, or operations; fosters teamwork and collaboration across organizations and geographies. Strong interpersonal skills.
Well-developed negotiation and influencing skills, for technical and non-technical audiences. Readily adapts to the complexities of global business and fosters global processes, strategies and goals.
Experience with programming/scripting, statistical analysis, database, ETL and programming languages like /R used in predictive analytics. Expert skills in data visualization and design.
Leadership of teams responsible for data intelligence and analytics. Experience with the application of science to data & predictive analytics.
Industry certifications in Big Data, data intelligence & analytics, data science, data governance.
Expert knowledge in best practices of dashboard design.
Expert knowledge and understanding in common data intelligence practices & processes and has demonstrated success in applying it. Have expert understanding and hands on experience in industry standards and tools in data intelligence and analytics.
Strong presentation and communication skills – written and verbal.
Linux RedHat System Administration Experience
Experience with Virtualized, Cloud environment
Experience architecting, building and administering large-scale distributed applications using Hadoop
Knowledge of Hadoop Ecosystem Components not limited to Hive, Yarn, Hbase, Spark and Kafka,Sentry (Ideal experience with: Linux redhat, Salt Stack, Git, Cloudera, Hive, Kafka, Yarn, Hbase, Kerberos, Python)
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Strong team player with the ability to collaborate and communicate with complex matrixed teams across the globe
Able to work independently and provide updates to management
Proactive and show initiative and desire to learn
Additional Skills: (Nice to have)
Experience with Cloudera Hadoop distribution is a plus
Experience with Configuration Management Tools such as Salt Stack, Ansible
Knowledge/Experience with Git. Bitbucket
Experience with deployment/orchestration tools (i.e. Jenkins) and microservices
Scripting in shell, perl or python
Redhat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification is a plus
Experience with Docker/Kubernetes
