Senior Director, Engineering Operations, Infrastructure and Solutions Group (ISG)

As the leader of ISG Engineering Operations, you will manage, create and enable modern processes, tools and methodologies to ensure a large-scale global engineering organization, consisting of thousands of engineers, functions efficiently and effectively.

In this role, you will…

  • Build and maintain effective, influential partnerships with engineering, solutions and portfolio management, finance, key cross-functional leaders, and other strategically aligned teams

  • Evaluate & implement best practices that ensure we are achieving previously defined goals

  • Enable excellence, agility, consistency, and innovation via streamlined operational processes, reporting and governance

  • Coordinate and lead engineering budget planning & management

  • Oversee and direct matrixed operations leads across engineering

  • Execute and lead strategic engineering transformation initiatives

  • Lead engineering vendor funding tracking and management

  • Drive the digitalization and modernization of engineering operations end-to-end, including budget, headcount, staffing, tools, processes, reporting, dashboards and metrics

  • Operationalize and enable budget & roadmap tracking allowing comprehensive accountability against investment spend and outcomes

  • Manage operational aspects of outsourced engineering resource engagements

  • Oversee delivery of organizational operations (ie. space planning, awards, requisitions, etc)

  • Ensure excellence and resiliency of our Engineering organization systems with sound Business Continuity plans to exceed compliancy of various audits

  • Ensure visibility at senior executive level to operational metrics, budgets, transformation initiative status, and roadblocks

  • Ensure operational alignment across the various engineering and development organizations as well as Product Management and other external teams

  • Operationalize frictionless dynamic movement of engineering team members aligning their career and development aspirations with strategic priorities to the business

  • Be a consultant to executive leadership on strategic decisions and priorities

Essential Requirements

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels within the organization

  • Experience in leading a global engineering or operations organization

  • Ability drive and lead change, including in ambiguous situations

  • Excellent collaboration, negotiation, influencing and partnering skills

  • Excellent technical, finance and business acumen

  • Extensive knowledge of end-to-end product development processes and requirements

  • Proven demonstrated skills driving operational efficiencies

  • Excellent executive presence, clear and concise communication & presentation skills

  • Strong skills driving complex transformation initiatives

  • Proven people management capabilities to inspire team members to deliver best in class outcomes

Desirable Requirements

  • Understanding of Dell’s processes and ways of getting work done at Dell

  • Technical background complemented with business experience

  • Experience leading teams with wildly different goals

  • MBA
