Dell Technical Staff Data Platform Technologist - Remote in Massachusetts

As a Technical Staff Data Platform Technologist you will work closely with the Data Management Incubation and Data Management Architecture teams to drive the research, incubation, positioning and adoption of upcoming Technology, Architecture and Innovation necessary to craft Dell’s next-generation Data Management product line.

What you’ll achieve

Taking a customer driven approach, you will help conceptualize, develop, and productize our data management platform offerings working closely with technical and business stakeholders at all levels.You will join an influential team driving Dell’s transformation by enabling its customers to uncover and capitalize on their diverse, dynamic and distributed data sources.This role includes working with Product Managers and Architects to define various areas of required research, creating proof of concepts, and defining architectural paths forward.

You Will

  • Own product definition for product layers that target data scientist and data analysts in our analytics area

  • Build capabilities to run AI/ML tools against the data and setup data pipelines

  • Build capabilities to improve Data Analysts’ abilities to find and integrate the right data into their chosen BI tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI)

  • Ensure that our data management portfolio products harmonize into a cohesive platform

  • Provide technical leadership for building product services that help data consumers ( data engineers / data scientists ) build data pipelines for AIML use cases

  • Integrate various open-source and internal technologies

  • Conceptualize and create POCs of various product integrations, solutions and approaches relevant onto our data management platform

  • Generate IP including multiple invention disclosures per year and patent filings

  • Write technical papers (e.g., white papers) that clearly articulate industry and company trends in technology and solutions for relevant areas of expertise

  • Represent the company by presenting in public forums, contributing to technical publications, and leading in strategic industry forums

  • Develop long-term technical relationships with 3rd parties and partners for the core data management technology or solutions. The relationships should create a technical interface, driving those requirements into next generation offerings

  • Provide mentoring and leadership in the Dell technical community

Essential Requirements

Expert level of knowledge or capability in many of the following areas:

  • Developing, constructing, testing and maintaining end-to-end data engineering pipelines.Strong technical background with the ability to integrate with various APIs.

  • Excellent understanding of modern data pipelines and data interoperability. Deep understanding of distributed data processing infrastructure (Spark, Presto, or Flink).

  • Experience building, deploying and scaling ML and other complex data analytics solutions.Experience with Data Warehousing, ETL and data virtualization.

  • Ability to create a strategic technical vision and drive product teams to deliver upon that vision.Ability to conduct presentations to peers, cross- functional teams and director level of leadership.

  • 15+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12+ years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with Scripting, reporting & data visualization.Experience with big data analytics and data-lake based solutions

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Terraform)

  • Experience with security products and methods (Apache Ranger, Apache Knock, OAuth, IAM, Kerberos)

  • Background and practical experience in statistics and/or computational mathematics (Bayesian & Frequentist approaches)

  • Building tools to automate data collection.Knowledge of appropriate technologies and competitor's offerings.
