Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

Location: McLean, VA

What you’ll achieve

As an Information Systems Security Officer, you will maintain operational security posture for information system(s) to ensure compliance with information systems security policies, standards, and procedures for a Mission customer. You will collaborate with the Information System Owner (ISO) to monitor the systems and its environment of operation, including reviewing audit logs for actions, security relevant events, suspicious activities, baseline changes and notifying the Customer ISSM of any discrepancies.

You will:

  • Provide continuous monitoring activities: ongoing assessments of the implemented security controls’ effectiveness to verify if there is a need to modify, update or changed the information system (assessments vary from yearly, monthly and weekly)

  • Perform system security tasks: initiate PO&Ms, waivers, exceptions and incident reports, submit software requests for approval, research vulnerabilities

  • Develop/update network security guidelines and policies ensuring all system are developed, operated, maintained and disposed of in accordance with customer policies, and company internal security policies

  • Conduct configuration management: document and maintain approved baseline and changes

Essential Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance

  • 8+ years of experience as an ISSO

  • DoD 8570 compliance with IA Management (IAM) Level I or higher

  • Demonstrated experience in two (2) of the following areas: knowledge of current security tools, hardware/software security implementation; communication protocols; and encryption techniques/tools

Desired Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 8+ years relevant experience; or equivalent experience
