General Summary:

The IT End User Support Technician provides technical support and training for personal computers and PC network for internal employee users within Dell’s McLean, VA location. Assists users in solving problems using available hardware and software tools. Supports, installs, and maintains personal computers, local area networks, operating systems, software, and related IT-sanctioned peripherals.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnoses problems and fully supports (installs, troubleshoots, configures and repairs) a variety of internal and third party applications for client workstations and servers in both the desktop and lab environments

  • Responsible for imaging and software installs on end user devices

  • Performs data and/or application backup and verification as necessary

  • Identifies network issues as it relates to end user device

  • Evaluates system configuration and software to ensure effective use of hardware resources

  • Addresses and resolves hardware, software and customer issues

  • Responsible for installation, support and maintenance of routine hardware/software systems and supporting large user groups

  • Responsible for supporting and troubleshooting hardware/software applications

  • Assists in testing applications, service packs, and patches prior to corporate wide release

  • Assists in testing/implementing applications for wide-scale data communication networks (wired and wireless) for internal company needs

  • Assists in selection and evaluation of hardware and software

  • Analyzes basic business needs and recommends ways to optimize PC hardware resources in achieving business objectives

  • Supports, maintains, and installs local area network server systems

  • Manages local IT equipment in the global Asset Management database; consults with Global Real Estate & Facilities team in preparation of cabling and design for Facility projects

  • Provides positive customer experience with each customer interaction

  • Operates without significant supervision resolving routine IT tasks with no direction



  • 5+ years experience in managing end-user computing environment in a “hands-on” enterprise environment including troubleshooting and hardware replacement experience

  • Experience in managing roadmap and execute transformational type of projects in end user computing environment

  • Experience doing break/fix support

  • Experience troubleshooting software application issues

  • Experience imaging PCs

  • Must have a solid knowledge base of Windows 7 and/or Windows 10 as well as Microsoft Office suite applications

  • Must have excellent customer orientation skills, proven organizational abilities and be able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, ability to juggle and track many tasks and complete them in a timely manner

  • Ability to work well as part of a team, sharing research, knowledge and leading practices with team members

  • Must be able to participate in on-call rotations

  • Position requires proof of U.S. Citizenship


  • CompTIA A+ certification highly preferred

  • Experience with Service Now a plus

  • ITIL concepts
