Dell Tax Director in Mexico City, Mexico

Tax Director

Directs the efforts of others in the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives of the group.

Manages the hiring, staffing and maintenance of a diverse and effective workforce.

Responsible for career development/planning, performance and pay discussions of team members.

Directs the maintenance of tax records and preparation of tax returns and related reports to ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.

Monitors and analyzes proposed and newly enacted tax legislation, regulations and judicial decisions that impact Dell’s operations and financial position.

Ensures Dell’s compliance with tax laws within area of specialty while minimizing Dell’s liability.

Identifies opportunities to minimize Dell’s tax costs.

Responds to internal and external tax inquires, and assists other departments with tax issues.

Keeps abreast of changes in relevant tax legislation.


Responsible for directing all activities regarding the Tax function for Mexico and Central America (including compliance, controversy and business support);

Directs the efforts of subordinate leaders and individual contributors;

Analyzes, researches and recommends ways to minimize corporate tax through use of tax laws and regulations;

May interpret, analyze and apply international tax laws and regulations;

Recommends short-term and long-term plans and strategies within the assigned client group.


The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • At least 15 years experience managing taxes and leading tax organizations in Mexico.

  • Relevant LATAM regional tax experience.

  • Proven track record in multinational companies.

  • Strong project management skills (including electronic reporting and compliance).

  • Work experience with a B4 accounting firm is a plus as well as in house tax experience.

  • Vast experience in setting up tax teams and processes.

  • English/Spanish fluent communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting/Business Administration/Law.

  • MBA or Masters degree in Taxation is a plus.
