What you’ll achieve

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering you will lead teams and organizations to deliver on the DTCE strategy. You will leverage your customer empathy, business acumen, and technical leadership to influence the priorities of the business. You will attract and retain talent to build a stellar engineering organization that demonstrates engineering excellence in skill and practices. You will participate in planning at all levels and take ownership of executing and delivering on those plans. You will be brilliant and bring out the genius in others. You will be a key contributor to creating an exciting and rewarding work experience for yourself and the greater organization.

You will:

  • Attract and retain talent to build a highly effective engineering organization.

  • Effectively communicate the organization’s strategy to your teams in a way that inspires them to bring their best.

  • Work across organizations to align resources and efforts to design, implement, and operate services.

  • Work across organizations to create and present roadmaps for your area which will be reviewed at the VP and Directors levels

  • Work with product managers and technical program managers to identify and accurately represent the work for your engineers.

  • Work with technical program managers to establish and continuously improve Agile software development and DevOps delivery practices for our organization.

  • Identify and measure KPIs and lead continuous improvement programs across design, implementation, and service delivery.

  • Work with architects and principal engineers on designs and design reviews.

  • Own delivery of multiple strategic initiatives: create and present roadmaps and monthly business reviews to leadership at Director and VP levels.

  • Represent our organization and its contributions to all levels of the company.

  • Mentor people managers, program managers, and engineers to continuously grow the talent in Dell.

Essential Requirements

  • Exceptional collaborator; self-aware, empathetic towards others, and able to deliver results as a team.

  • 10+ years of experience managing people in an engineering organization

  • 5+ years working as a software development engineer

  • Experience rapidly growing teams by attracting and retaining talent.

  • Experience establishing and continuously improving software delivery through Agile methodologies.

  • Experience managing programs end to end: SDLC, release management, resource planning, and budgets.

  • Experience leveraging software delivery tools such as TFS and Jira.

  • Experience delivering customer facing, revenue generating services.

  • Ability to function and manage development and service delivery efforts across multiple organizations.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

  • Ability to work in a distributed team across multiple time zones

  • Passion for learning new technologies, patterns, and practices.

  • Experience using public cloud technology and solutions including AWS, Azure, etc.

  • Experience owning services at a hyper scale.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience managing managers and leading organizations.
