What you’ll achieve

The CU architect will be a key member of a brand new, built from the ground up, high powered Ottawa R&D team. The team will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing a technology new to Dell for addressing the demands of the 5G Radio subsystem for operators and to help our customers to exploit this significant market evolution. The candidate for this role will have management experience in a R&D role in a 4G/5G development organization. 

From applied research to advanced engineering, Dell’s 5G R&D team will design and develop ground-breaking products & solutions. It’s a fascinating field of work. You will be involved in assessing the competition, developing technology and products and generating intellectual property. Your contributions will drive product architecture and implementation. And you will work with colleagues across the business to ensure Dell products always lead the way.

You will:

  • Be overall owner for the CU software

  • Collaborating with network core and DU teams to define interfaces and functional splits. Define and architect solutions allowing for scalability of CU solutions for various RAN deployments

  • Manage software requirements

  • Define and architect solutions interfacing with the EMS and orchestrators. Define protocols to be used.

  • Define architecture and solutions to provide a carrier grade high availability system

  • Lead CU team to establish implementation assignments for CU developers

  • Ensure all software requirements are covered by verification activities and that all verification activities are allocated to designer verification or formal verification teams as appropriate

  • Own sign-off on all software verification for CU

  • Own the definition of software regression test environments and test cases

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven record of successfully leading software development architecture design for wireless products, preferably 4G/5G RAN, and delivering product to market

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in 4G and 5G layer 3 protocols and standards

  • Knowledge of 3GPP and ORAN standards and interfaces

  • Organized, goal-oriented, self-starter, with a team focused mentality

Desirable Requirements:

8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
