Dell is looking for a 5G Application Engineer to take part in a once in a career opportunity to be part of building something from scratch and shepherding it into the marketplace.
The 5G Applications Engineer will be a key member of a brand new, built from the ground up, high powered Ottawa R&D team. The team will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing a technology new to Dell for addressing the demands of the 5G Radio subsystem for operators and to help our customers to exploit this significant market evolution.
The candidate for this role will have a significant work experience in planning, executing and supporting 5G wireless trials. Strong communication skills, technical versatility and experience in customer facing roles are required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Plan, execute & support 5G demonstrations, customer trials and verification testing
Contribute to the creation & development of all customer documentation (i.e. Installation & configuration guides, user manuals, troubleshooting & quick reference guides, technical notes and deployment checklists)
Customer management interface - Provide technical feedback to the R&D team from all customer lab & field trial activities.
Deployment Engineering – Assist in all trial deployment activities including; network planning, licensing, radio and site ancillary procurement & deployment scheduling
Customer training – Assist in the development and delivery of all pre- and post-installation training services (i.e. installation certification, NOC, advanced troubleshooting & NMS training)
Provide input on support contract and service level agreement (SLA) content
Essential Skills and Expertise/Experience
Proven record of working on large mobile network systems either as a member of a network equipment manufacturer/supplier or wireless radio technology provider
Experience in the planning, organization, execution and support of wireless customer (lab & field) trials
Experience in developing courseware and delivering technical training (installation, troubleshooting, NMS)
Organized, goal-oriented technical prime - collaborate effectively with development peers and customers
Knowledge in 4G and 5G radios and/or subsystems.
Network traffic testing experience - Familiar with common traffic testing methods, features and equipment
Minimum Experience and Education
7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
