Looking for energetic go-getter senior engineer to join a team of senior systems architect’s and developers, whose desire is to learn and prototype a broad array of technologies being hands on. Individual should be self-confident and self-driven with the ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a cross-functional team. Team oriented with successful communication and negotiation skills in order to manage conflicting and/or multiple demands, including ability to present to various levels within an organization. Strong analytical skills especially when driving to root cause, or when determining best approach for circuit design.

Technical Staff HW System Design Engineer - Chief Technology Innovation

Office in Round Rock, TX, or Hopkinton, MA or RTP, NC

Responsible for evaluation and early implementation of new enterprise hardware and software technologies. It takes experts in system architecture definition, design, analysis, prototyping, sourcing & the debugging and validation of layouts or routes to deliver state-of-the-art products for a changing world. We work closely with designers and cross-functional teams within Dell Technologies and suppliers to make sure our Proof-of-Concept and Prototype designs meet a range of requirements, including schedule, feature set, functionality, and quality, as well as industry standards.

Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll do

  • Lead and participate in ideation and concept design.

  • Design and develop products and digital and analog sub-systems.

  • Lead design tasks and electrical implementation and validation on program

  • Drives appropriate simulation and prototyping efforts

  • Works with engineering manager to assist in the creation of the development plan for program, including schedule, risks and resources

  • Cultivate a strategic partnership with Dell's SW, ME, & Product Management teams

  • Enable others through sharing knowledge and mentoring

  • Evaluate technologies for efficiency and reliability, and ensure project completion.

  • Prototype test and troubleshooting of low level software and hardware architectures

  • ARM Based

  • FPGA Based

  • ASIC Based

  • Bios + Firmware + Kernel Level Software

  • Create and maintain required documentation including specifications

  • Review and analyze new technologies and summarize results for presentation to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to take direction from senior architects and work independently

  • Ability to participate in team investigations

  • Understand and communicate industry trends and drive direction for systems, as appropriate.

  • Provide strategic direction to the planning, design, and architecture of high-quality, complex systems

Here is some of what you’ll need to be successful (required)

  • BS CE/EE, Minimum of 7 years of design experience including leading design efforts

  • Solid understanding and demonstrated experience with SW and HW development tools and experience in early product concepts and architecture development through prototyping

  • Experience in evaluation of new designs from Dell, Dell partners, and ODMs

  • ARM, FPGA system architecture and debug

  • A solid understanding of security elements with a enterprise class computer system

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong project development, program management, and organization skills

  • Ability to create and analyze architectural and product specifications

Here are a few of our preferred experiences

  • Experience with Server and Storage product architectures

  • Programming skills can include but not limited: C,C++, Java, VHDL, Go languages

  • Experience debugging in Linux environments
