Dell Business Strategist, Dell Technologies - Remote US in Round Rock, Texas

This position is remote anywhere in the USA.

An exciting opportunity for an experienced industry professional to join an influential and fast moving team charged with defining the future of Dell Technologies Platforms and Enterprise Business strategy.

As a member of the Dell Technologies Strategy and Planning team, you will be charged with breaking the existing business model molds to modernize the way that Dell Technologies, from Dell EMC to VMware, builds and delivers modern offerings.

  • You will work across the entirety of the Dell Technologies business universe to extract maximum value from our formidable set of assets and talent

  • You will drive Product Mgmt, CTO, and Engineering organizations to develop offer and technology roadmaps to facilitate a winning service delivery platform experience

  • You will work with our Go-to-Market organizations to develop and refine strategies that help our customers and business thrive in this evolving IT ecosystem

  • You will monitor select competitors and keep Dell abreast of material competitive developments and the implications thereof

  • You will define regional (e.g. China) and workload (e.g. AI/ML, SAP) strategies that enable Dell to optimize its portfolio and operating envelope

  • In short, you will help define and drive fundamental business model shifts at Dell Technologies

The successful candidate will have experience in strategy consulting at a top tier firm and offer/product management experience at a computer hardware or SW company. This strategy or product planning experience should have required deep technical domain and strong business acumen.

Day to day responsibilities will include developing Vision and Strategy for Dell Technologies’ future, working fluidly across the breadth of Dell Technologies to build offers that leverage the unique position Dell Technologies occupies at this moment, driving relationships with industry analysts, outreach to Dell’s diverse customer base, and driving key strategic initiatives within the organization. You will frame, research, and develop strategy points of view on Regional (e.g. China), workload (e.g. AI/ML, SAP), and technology trends impacting Dell’s business. You will support strategic interlock within the Enterprise business (ISG) across Dell’s Edge and Telco teams. You will develop competitive strategies and closely follow key competitors in select markets (e.g. Juniper, Arista, HPE, and Cisco).

Major Functional areas

Market Trends and Analysis

  • Understand the current & future trends in key workload areas (e.g. AI/ML, XaaS), and in the Edge, Telco, and Service Provider space to evaluate Dell’s optimal plays

  • Partner product & Eco-systems analysis to determine best fit for Dell's strategy

  • Analyze the competitive landscape, including development of frameworks and SWOTs to analyze competitive trends and moves among named competitors

Customer Needs Analysis and Outreach, Industry Trend Analysis

  • Driving relationships with industry analysts, developing and communicating Dell’s Enterprise direction

  • Driving customer outreach activities including presentations at Dell’s Executive Briefing Center, customer road shows, and traditional primary research activities

Internal Stakeholder Analysis

  • Align and coordinate thinking across Dell's Strategically Aligned Businesses, Product Groups, Services and Sales organization

  • Work with Dell’s varied routes to market to understand customer demand and in vertical and/or horizontal markets

  • Align with CTO office

  • Work with Marketing and Corporate communications on defining our market message for the Dell Technologies and Dell EMC business and the initiatives developed

Roadmap and business case

  • Assist with defining Dell's long-range roadmaps for products, services and solution offerings in the Enterprise market. Work with the internal stakeholders to validate offers

  • Produce the financial business cases that support the roadmap decisions

  • Determine who and how we'd bring proposed solutions to market

Qualifications

Skill-sets & Experience:

Proven experience framing, hypothesizing, researching/testing, gaining approval, and pushing strategic efforts

2-4+ years client facing experience with a top tier strategy consulting firm, and

8-10+ years of experience in the IT product marketplace or venture capital including:

  • Technologist or business strategist

  • Product/Offer Planning and Marketing

  • Complex products and solutions sales

  • Customer Success Team Leadership

  • Portfolio Strategist

Deep Technology knowledge and soup to nuts strategy development experience

Strategic analysis and business modeling skills

Strong verbal and written communications skills
