Dell Cloud System Architect - Cloud CTO Office in Round Rock, Texas

Cloud System Architect

Location: Round Rock/Austin, TX/Hopkinton, MA or Remote

What you’ll achieve

  • Lead and participate in ideation and concept design

  • Lead and participate in creating new and reusable architectures for current and new product categories

  • Provide strategic direction to the planning, design, and architecture of high-quality, complex systems

  • Work with Product Management to define required and nice-to-have features for early product architectures

  • Evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability, and ensure project completion

  • Enable others through sharing knowledge and mentoring

  • Prototype testing, troubleshooting and design validation & participate in team investigations

  • Create and maintain required documentation including specifications

  • Review and analyze new technologies and summarize results for presentation to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Engage with customers to understand challenges and problem solve. Understand and communicate industry trends and drive direction for systems, as appropriate.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree - BS CE/EE/CS with minimum of 10 years of design experience including the creation of new concepts and architectures

  • Understanding of cloud technology trends, containerized runtime environments (e.g., OpenShift, K8S) and microservice application architectures. Understanding of public cloud platform architectures, and hybrid cloud architectures and concepts

  • Deep understanding of enterprise storage systems, and applicability in edge, core, and cloud environments and experience with software defined storage and networking design

  • Deep understanding of VMware product architecture, components, and integration points. Experience with complex system design and deployment, inclusive of: runtime ecosystems, storage systems, and networking

  • Experience in early product concepts and architecture development through prototyping, evaluation of new designs from Dell, Dell partners, and ODMs. Experience with networking architecture

  • Solid understanding of security elements with enterprise class computer systems. Ability to create and analyze architectural and product specifications with strong project development, program management, and organization skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, at both engineer/technical and executive/business levels

Preferred Skills

  • Master's Degree -MS CE/EE/CS

  • Programming skills
