Director, BIOS Engineering

What you’ll achieve

Dell ISG is an innovative group of engineers that develops the industry leading portfolio of server and storage products. Within ISG, you will manage a team of professional BIOS/firmware development engineers who:

  • Accelerate our customers’ business with cutting edge Features and Innovation.

  • Produce solutions that deliver world class Quality and meet uncompromising Security standards.

  • Challenge the competition with a Fast Paced, highly agile development process.

  • Iterate and leverage to produce a product portfolio that spans Value to High End servers and storage.

You will:

  • Manage a team responsible for the design, development, testing, integration, documentation, and sustaining of BIOS software for Dell’s server and storage product portfolio.

  • Work as part of a global development team spanning multiple international sites.

  • Guide the work of BIOS software teams at Dell’s ODM suppliers.

  • Interact with program managers, operations, marketing, sales, procurement, quality, and legal teams.

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top technical talent.

  • Responsible for career development/planning, performance and pay discussions of team members.

  • Manage and promote an agile software development environment within aggressive product schedules.

  • Develop schedules, budgets, risk management plans, quality goals, and lead the team to successfully delivery them.

  • Identify and drive improvements in the development process that facilitates quality, customer experience, schedule, and cost improvements.

  • Think strategically and operate tactically driving to deliver on our customer centric vision.

  • Remove barriers to change, never be satisfied with the status quo, and always strive for improvement.

Essential Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical engineering or Computer engineering.

  • Embedded firmware engineer and lead engineer experience.

  • 5 years of people management experience

  • Understanding of software engineering processes and methodologies.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Demonstrated strong process orientation including definition, design, and execution.

Desirable Requirements

  • BIOS / UEFI engineering experience.

  • Proven understanding of BIOS and/or embedded firmware design.

  • Proven understanding of x86 architecture from both a hardware and software context.
