Solutions Architect, Telco Networking & Mobile Infrastructure - Telco Business Unit

As a Solution Architect you are the technical subject matter expert within the product development group, yet deeply engaged with our sales organizations to enable them solve complex customer challenges with our technology solution offerings. You use your deep technical expertise to work with product management counterparts to define next generation solution offerings. Since you love being in front of people, are you traveling to conduct sales and channel boot camps and attend customer meetings.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Solution Development

  • Translate customer opportunities and requirements into detailed user stories. Develop, with product management, detailed feature and product requirements documents from user stories. Work with product team to prioritize feature requirements.

  • Work with key internal product teams and partners to understand their roadmaps, key technologies and their impact to the solution offerings.

  • Work with engineering and development teams to develop proof of concepts of new and emerging technologies and/or new features that our customers can benefit from.

  • Help technical marketing to develop and review technical collateral and marketing claims.

  • Sales Enablement

  • Work with business development team to develop a go-to-market plan for key offerings.

  • Author whitepapers, application briefs and blogs that document the applicability of your solutions to this market.

  • Own technical training content development and delivery.

  • Work with Learning and Development teams to own development of online training modules.

  • Enable the sales and partners to sell telco products and solutions. Work with solutions business development teams to train direct pre-sales and channel partners on selling and architecting complex enterprise solutions.

  • Conduct customer and sales facing webinars.

  • Travel within the country and internationally to conduct trainings and boot camps.

  • Customer Engagement

  • Team up with account team to drive strategic account initiatives. Develop trusted advisor relationship with customer technology and operations stakeholders in key accounts. Discover customers’ unmet needs. Help account team to craft solutions to problems and to clearly articulate value propositions.

  • Secure early customers and Proof-Of-Concept (POC) opportunities. Work with account team to deliver and implement these POCs.

  • Present technical sessions at key customer and industry events.

Key Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ hands-on experience in the telco service provider marketplace either working for a telco or a networking vendor that serves the space

  • In depth domain knowledge of telco and cloud infrastructures, mobility architectures (4G & 5G), and virtualization concepts.

  • In depth knowledge of telco networking architectures and requirements, including: IPv4/IPv6, MPLS-TE, Segment Routing, Carrier Ethernet and Layer-2 networking frameworks. Hands-on experience with routing protocols – OSPF, ISIS, and BGP – VPNs and overlay networking, and management framework.

  • Prior working experience with MEF, BBF, TIP, LFN, ITU-T, IETF, and IEEE.

  • Technical understanding of the core hardware elements of Telecom and enterprise data centers (i.e. compute, networking, and storage) and the software/hardware ecosystem that supports infrastructure virtualization

  • Proven track record of leading successful customer and partner engagements

  • Strong writing, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • This role requires a strong customer/market mindset, a desire to engage customers and related open source/standard development communities to become a trusted advisor.

  • Ability to work as overlays to support Sales Engineers in identifying opportunities, solving real world problems, assisting with RFP responses, etc.

  • Travel required in support of training events, customer engagements, proof of concepts, and lab/field trials.
