As part of the Global Services Parts organization, the Global Inventory Optimization team is focused on reviewing global services inventory flows end to end to find inefficiencies in our material flows, process gaps, sub-optimal decision making and pools of trapped inventory with the explicit goal to reduce, eliminate or improve these. Additionally, this team works to educate the broader organization on the levers available to improve their inventory velocity to support our customers with a lower asset based. This team also strives to leverage Dell owned assets in the most efficient way rather than purchasing new parts from suppliers whenever possible.

The focus of this role is to accelerate our global ability to leverage material already owned by other groups within Dell. This individual will perform data analytics on our inventory to identify opportunities to reduce the overall inventory levels and collaborate with cross functional organizations to implement changes. Not only will this role analyze existing inventory, but it will anticipate future purchases in an effort to identify opportunities to leverage existing inventory in lieu of new buys. This will include all areas of the life cycle, with a keen eye on New Product Introduction, and Last Time Buy parts. This this individual will strive to identify and implement best practices globally to maximize the benefits. The global standardization will require knowledge of both the Services supply chain network, processes and data flows.

We also work closely with Sales and Global Services colleagues to develop strategic account growth plans, and to identify and pursue sales opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage our Global Inventory data to identify outliers and/or changes in the business reflected in the data.

  • Identify opportunities to optimize out inventory position through data analytics.

  • Understand the global best practices and standardize them to the fullest extent possible.

  • Establish processes which enable Services to reduce external purchase orders by leveraging assets that Dell already owns. To be successful, this individual will be able to learn the processes for several areas across Dell and synthesize these independent actions in a fashion that will optimize our supply chain. Areas to be considered include Services NPI, Services sustaining planning, Services LTB, GDO returns/recovery and ARB refurbishment for starters. The end goal will be to leverage data analytics around our supply chain to reduce inventory levels overall.

  • Implement KPIs to measure performance and define success.

  • Ensure data driven and scalable solutions are executed. These data elements should include, but not be limited to Services NPI calculations, Services LTB calculations, anticipated returns volumes, configuration mix, time to launch NPI solution, time to customer demand, time to distribute parts.

  • Lead cross function teams to drive solutions.

Essential Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree

  • Leadership skills to a drive a cross functional team to success thinking out of the box

  • Services supply chain knowledge

  • Experience working with global teams

  • Experience with data analytics

  • Experience with SQL is must have.

  • Supply Chain Management (planning, forecast methodology, inventory optimization, and defective field return forecasting for service parts used in warranty events); parts planning

  • Strong financial acumen
