Dell EMC is looking for a senior technologist with advanced expertise in data storage technologies. The candidate for this role will have advanced expertise in storage systems, their architecture, software design, protocols and customer use cases. The ideal candidate will also have advanced knowledge of
the next generation hardware, media and fabrics including NVME-OF, Next Gen data center, Software Defined Storage stacks and storage management and orchestration technologies. As the Storage Engineering Technologist, the candidate will be expected to lead the development of strategies related to
the Storage and Data Center infrastructure markets.
It is critical that the successful candidate for this role is able to build relationships with technologists in product business unit to facilitate a collaborative, innovative culture. The Storage Technologist will be expected to work collaboratively on a continuous basis with multiple internal organizations including Dell EMC’s product units, other groups within the office of the CTO, Dell EMC’s go to market teams, service and support and Ventures while helping to be a strategic lead for multiple concept development teams working on near term and long term technology concepts. Also, in this role the candidate may lead small agile teams in the development of proof of concepts implementations.

Key Activities / Responsibilities:
Individual will work hand-in-hand with the ISG Storage Business Unit to develop and continuously maintain the “go-forward” technology strategy in support of the BU
In addition, the individual will work closely with other teams within ISG to ensure that the Storage BU technology strategy aligns with the broader ISG technology strategy
Individual is expected to establish relationships and work closely with Dell Technologies strategically aligned businesses (SAB)
Key deliverables include but are not limited to:
Publication and ongoing enhancement of the BU technology strategy
Key technology inputs to Business Unit requirements either through the Aggregate Portfolio Planning (APP) process or into the Business Product Requirements Document (PRD)
Transition of applicable technology from OCTO and external sources to BU to ensure timely expansion of BU product portfolio
Serving as Subject Matter Expert as required
Driving joint ISG/SAB strategic priorities
Strong understanding of storage products/technologies, the overall industry, and competitive environment
Knowledge, experience, and foresight as to how these technologies need to evolve for use in storage of the future including cloud / cloud native environments
Ability to assess upcoming industry trends both from use case and technology perspectives to ensure timely adoption of new technologies into our product portfolio.
Strong working relationships with technical and business leaders across ISG to ensure that evolving technologies and their applicability to innovative products is well documented and understood by all key stakeholders
Able to lead necessary technology investigations, performing strategic analysis of the industry capabilities, and developing recommendations that influence the technical product strategy & BU roadmap
Assist in the evaluation of potential acquisitions and vendor partner opportunities as needed
Responsible for generating and documenting applicable Intellectual Property (IP)
Supports customer briefings by providing technical insight on evolving technologies and impact to future customer use cases
Strong working knowledge of storage technologies & evolution of storage in general
Strong working knowledge of next gen media and memories
Ability to mate company & BU long-term business goals with use case and technology trends resulting in leadership products
Ability to lead among a group of technical peers
Education and Experience
15+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
