Server Commodity Product Manager - Austin/Round Rock, Texas

Using a wealth of technical and industry experience, we work across functional areas to implement our products or solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for directing the development of company market requirements for the PowerEdge Comms portfolio, which includes new product investigation, business case development, and technology assessment and planning. Develop product roadmaps and provide competitive analysis for a line of business and corresponding customer segment. The product planning function is also responsible for working with all relevant groups within Dell to ensure that products meet both internal standards and customer requirements.

  • Manage the portfolio supported with high quality analysis to ensure that we are managing complexity, while still maintaining customer choice. This includes providing detailed product proposals and requisite justification for applicable offerings.

  • Provide deep competitive and market analysis to determine how best to define product requirements to enhance customer experience and achieve the goals of the business unit(s).

  • Analyze market for current and evolving storage trends in new product technology and marketing, to enable Dell to remain in the forefront of advanced technologies.

  • Work closely with all Product Management team members, Engineering product owners, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize business requirements for NPI releases

  • Define the product roadmap and requisite product requirements for the offering(s).

  • Work across all functional areas, gathering inputs, updating product plans and roadmaps, and communicating the impact of product decisions to all stakeholders on a timely and structured basis.

  • Communicate strategy and roadmap to senior executives, partners and customers.

  • Create technology "white papers or points of view", internal product presentations and product mix matrix for line of business.

  • Self-motivation to do what needs to be done

Essential Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with high level presentation skills.

  • Knowledge of the Server market and key enabling server technologies.

  • Strong executive presentation skills.

  • Strong ability to motivate and achieve results through others.

  • Able to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance of, others in sensitive situations.

  • Must understand technical product concepts to assist engineers in making product/commodity trade-off decisions.

  • Must be fully knowledgeable in classic marketing skills (i.e., Product, Positioning, Pricing, and Promotion).

  • Product strategy, roadmaps, requirements and business case justification experience.

  • Understanding of and experience with the Offer Lifecycle (Management) Process for New Product Introductions.

  • Ability to persuade, or gain acceptance of, others in sensitive situations. Work in a fast-paced environment requiring daily decision-making

  • Must understand technical product concepts to assist engineers in making product/commodity trade-off decisions.

  • Understanding of and experience with the Offer Lifecycle (Management) Process for New Product Introductions

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 8-10 years professional experience (5-7 years with Masters Degree).
