We are currently seeking a Security Engineering Manager to join our Security & Resiliency team, based in Hopkinton, MA or Round Rock, TX. The ideal candidate will join the Dell Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT), a function of the Product & Application Security. The Dell PSIRT is chartered and responsible for coordinating the response and disclosure for product and application vulnerabilities that are reported to Dell.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages a team of security and software engineers to drive vulnerabilities to resolution working with cross-functional teams

  • Provides leadership, mentorship and technical direction for a distributed team of passionate and highly motivated individuals

  • Builds strong relationships with the PSIRT operations team, SDL (Secure Development Lifecycle) teams, product and application engineering teams

  • Participates and collaborates with leadership to define, strategize and deliver technical controls and solutions for the organization

  • Oversees, manages, and prioritizes agreed upon security engineering goals; identifies and removes issues, conflicts, and dependencies

  • Conducts security reviews, consultations, and provides technical subject matter expertise to engineering organizations on validating and mitigating application security vulnerabilities

  • Conducts technical root cause analysis on Dell product and application vulnerabilities and coordinates with internal resources to create a technical position statement on these for Dell engineering organization consumption

  • Defines and generates technical reports for the program

  • Collaborates with other team members to develop tools and services for the rollout of secure product development at Dell

  • Leads the tool automation and development initiatives for the team

  • Provides recommendations to senior management on strategic issues based on domain and technical expertise and knowledge of industry trends combined with business needs

  • Ensures the development and maintenance of technical documentation and guidance

  • Proactively engages internal and external partners to identify business needs and opportunities on an ongoing basis

  • Acts as a Dell representative to collaborate with other industry experts on the security engineering domain to represent and solidify Dell's thought leadership in the domain

  • Responsible for hiring, staffing, and development of a diverse and effective workforce

  • Responsible for career development/planning and performance discussions of team members

  • Provides autonomy to individual contributors while empowering and encouraging collaboration with other security teams across the organization


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field with 12+ years relevant experience; or Master’s degree with 8+ years relevant experience; or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience within a software/development security team or a similar operating environment, including 5+ years of experience leading, managing & developing high-performance engineering teams

  • Experience managing remote employees around the globe

  • Practical experience across the full cycle of incident response

  • Possess a deep understanding of the application, system, and network security

  • Hands-on knowledge of information security technologies such as security design review, threat modeling, code review, risk analysis, and software testing techniques

  • Ability to explain complex security issues to analysts, engineers, managers, and executives

  • Strong information security risk-based prioritization abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to create, expand, motivate, and inspire teams

  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration across organizations and geographies

  • Ability to drive complex, cross-organizational initiatives through the influencing of and negotiation with stakeholders who at times may hold competing priorities

  • Results-driven and accountability-minded
