  • Provides database operations support, monitoring databases and backups, resolving repetitive and simple events and escalating more complex incident according to the standard operating procedures.

  • Provides production database support with specific focus on availability, capacity, performance, security and recoverability.

  • Performs database installation and configuration, tuning, capacity planning, health checks, backups & recovery and change management according to documented standards.

  • Troubleshoots issues with database instances, DR, replication and backups and eliminates root causes through systematic problem management practices.

  • Provides database development/project support in compliance with database design standards.

  • Designs and develops database systems to meet application and business requirements across multiple platforms and computing environments.

  • Provides guidance on best practices and standards and supports the project teams with database related activities throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Ensures database security controls meet internal and external audit and compliance requirements.

  • Implements database technologies for global standards, data classification, and data privacy according to regulatory guidelines.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field or equivalent experience

  • United States Citizenship Required.

  • 8+ years of experience with 4+ years working as a SQL Server Database Administrator and handling production critical databases/servers.

  • Installing, Configuring and Upgrading SQL Server/Applying Service Packs

  • Server and Database Security Administration

  • Experience with Backup,Performance tools and SQL Server Replication

  • Designing SQL Server Systems and Implementation

  • Good knowledge of the physical database design and functions

  • Patch Management and Version Control

  • Should have good understanding of MS SQL, related utilities and tools

  • Identification - Use native tools like Profiler, Perfmon, system stored procedures, dynamic management views, custom stored procedures or third party tools

  • Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures

  • Perform database maintenance: Perform both MS SQL and operating system performance tuning and monitoring.

  • Automation:- Monitor application related jobs and data replication activities (Automated)- Setup custom scripts to query for particular issues and email the team- Write error messages centrally in the application and review that data- Setup Operators and Alerts on SQL Server Agent Jobs for automated job notification

  • Should have sound communication skills with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators

  • Setup and maintain documentation and standards

  • Should have the ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Good understanding of the underlying operating system


  • Knowledge of Scripting in Python, VBScript, WMI is a plus

  • Knowledge of Oracle Database is a plus
