Dell is currently seeking an Executive Communications Senior Consultant to lead all communications strategy and external/internal programs in support of Dell’s Chief Marketing Officer. This is a global role with 360-degree responsibilities for overall communications strategy and counsel, and deliverables related to driving brand reputation programs, executive visibility and speakerships, team member communications and external thought leadership messaging and platforms. This role will be part of the Global Corporate Executive Communications team and will report to the head of the Executive Communications program.

The successful candidate will have both internal and external communications experience, extensive executive communications experience, strong writing skills, strategic planning ability, extensive enterprise IT and consumer electronics experience, and broad knowledge of the IT and consumer electronics industry overall to ensure that Dell, Dell EMC, and Dell Technologies’ strategy, brand promises, and messages for the business are well understood and supported by Dell team members, customers, partners as well as press, analysts, and influencers.

This role will be responsible for owning communications plans and deliverables, and partnering with organizations across the company to drive consistency in messaging with regard to the Chief Marketing Officer’s platform and priority initiatives for the Dell, Dell EMC and Dell Technologies’ organizations. The successful candidate will develop the communications strategy and content independently (and, in many cases, collaboratively with other functional teams) for the CMO’s communications vehicles and platforms, including keynotes, blogs, videos, media opportunities, analyst briefings, internal channels and social/digital platforms. Prior experience in B2B and B2C communications is highly desirable. Experience working with all levels of executives is a requirement. Understanding of top-tier trade and business press, analysts and/or influencers who cover enterprise IT and consumer electronics is necessary. This individual should be seasoned in partnering with senior business leaders, communications colleagues and outside agencies to drive and enhance business results across highly-matrixed organizations.

This individual must be detail-oriented, a self-starter, resourceful, strategic and a creative thinker. This individual must show the ability to maintain and build strategic relationships with colleagues, executives, team members, press, analysts and influencers. S/he will have proven capability in contributing to a world-class communications function.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead overall Executive Communications for Dell’s Chief Marketing Officer, who is responsible for the brands, messages and storylines of Dell, Dell EMC and Dell Technologies

  • Create and manage both internal (team member) and external (PR/AR/Social/Digital) programs in support of the CMO’s platform, focusing on key customer thought leadership platforms

  • Own development of priority narratives/messaging to ensure effective internal/external storytelling

  • Own content placement strategy and development

  • Partner with communications colleagues to proactively communicate relevant news to press, analyst, and influencer communities

  • Work with other communications functions as necessary to develop proactive and reactive communications plans, including internal/external speaking points and media statements

  • Provide communications support for the CMO at company and industry events

  • Clearly communicate Dell, Dell EMC, and Dell Technologies’ competitive positioning and value propositions

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of technology-related communications experience, with at least 4 years representing vendors and at least 2 full years managing executive communications for a senior executive

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or related field preferred

  • Knowledge in managing all aspects of special events and speakerships

  • Excellence in planning and execution of internal and external communications strategy, programs and tactics

  • Highly evolved interpersonal and executive presence skills

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to think on feet

  • Ability to synthesize, interpret and summarize third-party analysis and research for cross-functional audiences

  • Experience interacting at all levels of a company, including senior management

  • Self-organized, self-starter, with a demonstrated ability to achieve objectives

  • Strategic and technical understanding of blog platforms, video production and webcasts

  • Able to operate in matrix organizations and manage multiple projects concurrently; comfortable working with remote colleagues and stakeholders; experience working across disciplines and geographies

  • Knowledge of internal & external communications strategies and best practices

  • Knowledge of major press outlets (and reporters) and top-tier industry analysts firms (and analysts)

  • Proficiency in using online tracking and measurement tools desired

  • Proficiency in digital/social networking platforms, MS Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel mandatory
