The Divisional VMware Technology Leader (DVTL) is a role aligned to VMware’s Dell Execution Team (DET), reporting to the VP, VMware Americas Enterprise Sales, Dell Execution Team. This is a Dell-badged employee funded by – and accountable to - the VMware DET. The DVTL is a subject matter expert dedicated to partnering with a Divisional VMware Sales Leader from the DET, Dell EMC’s divisional sales, pre-sales, and partners, with the goal of enabling these teams to demonstrate value and solutions around the Software Defined Datacenter, Cloud, Cloud Native Applications, End User Computing, and the converged/hyper-converged platforms these solutions are built upon. The DVTL engages in key sales opportunities as part of a broader sales team, providing expertise in several areas including cloud automation, cloud native applications, end user computing, and IT transformation.

The VMware DET is a cross-functional team aligned to support the drive revenue synergy with the following guiding principles: 1) Increase Customer Relevance for Dell Technologies and the Strategically Aligned Businesses by working collaboratively across Dell technologies companies, 2)Help customers achieve Business Objectives and IT Outcomes required for Digital Transformation via the creation of offerings that leverage our combined portfolios, 3) Align Dell Technologies-wide GTM behind our preferred solution(s) while enabling customer choice when requested or clearly the best option, 4) Create compelling customer value by a services-led, consultative approach that is founded in deep rooted Account Planning, 5) Optimized deployment of our combined field resources for maximum customer impact – with accountability through the VMware Dell Execution Team.

The DVTL is a self-motivated learner who is always looking for opportunities to expand their expertise and increase their effectiveness across a broad range of technologies that enable the core mission Dell EMC and VMware in the Software Defined Datacenter.


The DVTL continually engages with the various sales and pre-sales teams within Dell EMC and VMware to assist and enable them in positioning, architecting, and fine-tuning solutions. The DVTL will have broad knowledge of the interaction across Dell EMC’s product portfolio and be the field expert in leading edge technologies. DVTLs engage throughout the sales cycle on select opportunities and are a key contributor for the opportunity and technical owner of the solution. The DVTL is primarily a knowledge enabler both within the DVTL community as well as across Dell EMC, VMware and the partner community. This includes sharing best practices, growing reference account relationships, delivering training, and assisting in hands-on activities.

As our DVTLs are recognized as Subject Matter Experts and interact directly with Dell EMC’s customer base, the DVTL is instrumental in participating in many Dell EMC-related distribution groups and social media forums and is an active participant in partner-related bundling and marketing initiatives.

The DVTL also may support various marketing programs by speaking at, and supporting trade shows, field marketing events, Executive Briefing Centers (EBCs), VMUG sessions, the VMware Communities, and active participants at VMworld, Dell EMC World, and other events.


We seek technical experts with customer-facing experience who have a compelling desire to showcase their expertise by partnering with Dell EMC and channel partners’ sales forces resulting in the deep promotion and demonstration of Dell EMC’s Software Defined Datacenter strategy and Dell EMC/VMware integrated solutions. Additionally, we seek:

  • Hands-on, technical experience with VMware

  • Experience with Cloud automation/orchestration concepts and design

  • Experience with OpenStack and related technologies

  • Experience with a DevOps culture/SDLC

  • Ability to travel approximately 50% within a defined territory

  • Active (published online or in print) member of the community

  • VMware certification is desired

  • Dell EMC Certification is desired

  • Experience with Cloud Foundry is desired

  • Experience in a Pre-sales/technical consulting role resulting in continued expansion of Virtualization and infrastructure footprint

  • Experience managing Application Development or large enterprise service environments is desired

  • Experience with Dell EMC technologies is a strong additional consideration, but not a pre-requisite

  • Must be a passionate technologist, with exceptional communication skills
