The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop software for platforms, peripherals, applications and diagnostics — all with the most advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and the collaboration of internal and external partners.

As an Engineering Director at Dell EMC, you will be joining the Data Protection Division (DPD) and will be part of the Integrated Protection Products (IPP) team. IPP consists of suite of Data Protection products that include Data Domain (DD), Integrated Data Protection Appliance (IDPA) and software offerings.

Specific responsibilities

  • Champion building “User Centered” products and solutions for Data Protection needs.

  • Deliver end-to-end manageability stack (not-limited to GUIs, CLIs, REST APIs, SNMP, Reporting/Analytics, Configurations, Alerts, Telemetry, Licensing) for products and solutions.

  • Establish vision and roadmap for manageability of the products covering small-medium-business to very large enterprises of Physical Data Domain and Virtual Data Domains in Private/Public cloud.

  • Responsible for vision, roadmap and delivery of Data Domain Management Center product that enables large enterprises to manage 100s of Data Domain systems.

  • Lead product evolution for a SDDC (Software Defined Data Center) and Data Protection-as-a-service (DPaaS).

  • Drive changes required in the product to automate private/public/hybrid clouds.

  • Drive designing thinking, design sprints, product discovery and user experience (UX) to iteratively envision new products and solutions.

  • Drive “its simple” and “it just works” competitive advantage of Data Domain product line.

  • Improve Data Domain NPS.

  • Ensure the organization is looking from a customer lens especially in the areas of “Desirability” and “Usability” for new products and solutions.

  • Drive “voice-of-customer” programs with early adopters and fold feedback early in the product life cycle.

  • Share customer insights and represent manageability at senior leadership vision, strategy and roadmap meetings.

  • Work closely with QA team to improve test coverage, automation and efficiency for specific areas.

  • Build a high-quality and effective engineering organization through hiring, training, mentoring, goal setting and recognition.

Required Skills

  • Experience as an engineering leader in the Data Protection space with similar responsibilities as defined above.

  • Strong customer facing skills.

  • Great communication skills (both verbal and written), collaboration skills and analytical thinking.

  • Professional demeanor with the ability to stay focused and composed under high pressure and stressful circumstances.

  • Strong leadership skills to meet the diverse needs of people with different cultural backgrounds and globally distributed teams.

  • 15+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience; 7+ years diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skill (or equivalent experience).
